Absolutely love that Efren is in the finals!!
Would love to be able to be around to see who and how these young guns are playing when they are Efren's age.
Mid 1990's at the Bicycle Club in Bell Gardens, Calif. Sitting around the practice table casually shooting the s--t in the middle of the day were Buddy Hall, Billy Incardona and Steve Mizerak. All of a sudden someone steps out from the Tournament Room and says "Lou is doing it again." In unison...
Let me know--I'm in for a yard.
I'll be at Hard Times Bellflower next week and will let"Little Al" Romero know and let him spread the news. Only problem is that most of the good guys are gone. However, some of the missing in action guys might come out of the woodwork for something like this...
Have to admit that I wasn't able to watch as I was spending time with my wife at the hospital. I watched Alex beat Scott at Hard Times and watched the DVD's of his matches at the DCC and thought that it wouldn't be possible for Scott to win unless he had been able to blend his 1 Hole Power game...
Dave was a hard working, straight up guy. He had a ton of pool knowledge that he was willing to share regardless of your playing level. It will seem strange to not see him at Hard Times and to not have him at BreakZone to fulfill pool needs. Hate to see the good guys leave us.
This is great!! But definitely not definitive. If one or the other had won the 8 ahead in 2 or 3 days in a dominating manner that would have been definitive. Whatever happens now would almost make a rematch a toss up. JMO
It was a simple, honest post that didn't deserve all of this B.S. chest pounding. Just a "where and when" response or an ignoring of the post.
Everyone has already made their positions known, many times over.
Joey, thanks for the reminder. I don't know how I forgot about Raphael. When he was playing a lot at Hard Times he had both power and control and was the 1st player I saw run consecutive racks of rotation. For sure his stroke ranks right up there.
That was some good pool. I don't know if it is going to be posted on YouTube as they have a new streamer. I know that Daniel of POV that used to stream for them put the good matches up on YouTube. He did a lot of promotion for them that I'm not sure that he got proper credit for. Hopefully, they...
Thanks Lenny for a realistic critique. The other reviews I read in the other thread were totally negative nit picking. So far this show is exclusively about a segment of the New York pool world that is based at Steinway's. Maybe it will expand to other rooms and New York pool characters or maybe...
Hal Houle long before he made CTE public showed me a similar concept. On many shots he would use 1/4 CB to contact point of OB. On long distant shots it was as you described. He also used edge to fractions but the key was in the alignment. He hinted at a system that the Filipinos used but never...
Well said.
How do you ignore someone who has achieved a level of success that few if any on these forums have found?
Amazing that the "knockers" haven't driven him away. Thick skinned and confident in his belief's.
Real nice area but don't know of any pool activity. They are, however, getting ready to open the 1st desalination plant on the West Coast, if not the country, that will produce 54 million gallons of water a day at only 6-7 cents a gallon.
I didn't know that Hal coached Kim as well as Archer. I met him, Hal, at the 1992 Bicycle Club Tournament. Still have a signed edition of his only pool instructional booklet. A real gentleman.
I have always felt that Kim was one of the most underrated players of his time--except by the other...
You may have found a flaw but in person it was a thing of beauty. The accident that affected his eye led to his being tremendously under appreciated. Had a ton of heart.
