Pechauer is a great company that makes a very high quality cue. One difference between the 2 you mention is the joint. Pechauer uses a piloted joint into a steel insert in the shaft so it will have a firmer feel to it when you stroke the cue ball. OB uses a 3/8x10 wood to wood joint so it will...

I agree with a leather wrap. I played with Linen like most folks and then tried a Lucasi with a leather wrap, which also has a slightly slimmer butt, and I was hooked. Everyone's different of course but it feels better in my hand than anything else I've tried.

I've had a Players HXT and it was fine, and a Pechauer JP-N that was truly high quality, have tried a Joss and didn't care for it. My favorite of all is now a Lucasi custom LZL-14.but paid an extra $60 and upgraded to a Hybrid shaft, which gives me the best of both worlds. I have a leather wrap...

I would join a club like this in a heartbeat. How does it work if, when you go, you can't get an open table? Here in Charleston the pool halls stay pretty busy with a lot of regulars and the leagues are packed. It would be problematic if you pay monthly dues and then can't play when you want.

Good players usually have very good and often expensive cues that they prefer, but yes...they could play very well with just about anything.
