Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

All valid points, but I would imagine Matchroom's stance would be simply: We're not stopping you wearing your sponsor's logo, you just have to wear the event sponsor's logo as well, take it or leave it.

Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

In snooker, the event sponsor's logo is always on the player's shirts/waistcoats, they then get an additional 1 or 2 patches for their own personal sponsors. Given this is a Matchroom event, presumably they just followed the tried and tested model that has worked for years without too many...

10 year old boy gets 147 doing a drill which to some is not the same as practice. This wasn't done during an actual game.

Talking of which...his comeback is tomorrow night, 19:00 (UK time)!

    Bookies as sponsors

I'm pretty sure Matchroom & World Snooker can see the writing on the wall for bookie sports sponsorship and are quietly and slowly trying to branch out (there is a lot in the UK press at the moment about gambling advertising).

    Snooker Cue Selection Question

Ha, I actually had no idea they were measured in mm, I've only ever seen them advertised as 2 1/16", interesting (and a bit odd, given the table is still referred to as a 12 x 6). I wonder if they changed that at some point in history (maybe when the UK went decimalised)!

    Snooker Cue Selection Question

Surely the ball sizes are as follows? Snooker- 2 1/16" American Snooker- 2 1/8" American Pool- 2 1/4"

Another sports culture this is something pool never had

Its a lot easier to just talk about life when you have a ton of money!!!! I'm not sure you can compare NFL players to pool players, the former are highly paid athletes, the latter (bar a very select few) probably struggle to pay the rent, so its natural money will be their primary concern.

after watching mosconi, I'm gona buy a cf shaft.

As it was mentioned, I should point out its the same (or at least very similar) in cricket. Wooden bats are mandatory because it was felt adding other performance enhancing materials gave the batsman too much of an (unfair) advantage (so sounds very similar to the Baseball logic).

One Country vs Continent of 49 Countries

You must have got pretty unlucky...I've only ever seen a handful of 7ft American style tables in Europe!! In the UK at least we (virtually) only have 9 ft American style pool tables (the 7ft ones will always be English style) and on the continent, pool rooms typically have (generally very worn)...

Something is wrong with Team USA

Sorry for clarity, I did mean Marcel was right on every occasion, not Ronnie!

Something is wrong with Team USA

He's had a few run in's with (mainly Ronnie) players over the years on the snooker circuit...and to be fair to him, I think he's been in the right on every occasion, however perhaps its the way he 'stamps his authority' that winds up some people. I suspect its nothing more than a language thing...

Something is wrong with Team USA

I'd really like a proper team event like that too, however I think we are in the minority :-(

Something is wrong with Team USA

I was curious about this too, Emily Frazer dragged Marcel off and then nothing more was said, even the commentary team didn't mention it (which is slightly odd for a Matchroom production as they LOVE any kind of drama/rivalry narrative).

Free snooker stream next 12 days

Matchroom Live is free in the UK and seems to show events when no other broadcaster does (normally snooker would be on Eurosport, but this one isn't, probably as it was arranged fairly last minute). The Matchroom site is pretty good though, you could watch 4 tables at once (if there were that...

    World Snooker Championships 2020

Just a heads up, in case people were interested, the World seniors is being shown free on various platforms this week, Hendy v Bond is probably today's pick (today at 7pm local time). Fixtures are here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/53806982 Those that have access can watch free via the...

    World Snooker Championships 2020

On that note, I was pretty surprised to see Anthony Hamilton in there! A decent player, but not on the same page as the rest of that list. Also, I noticed Stephen Lee, such a wasted career, he could have been really good!

Table Size Based on This Room

Depending on how desperate you are for a specific table you could get one shipped from the UK. You can definitely get 7 ft snooker tables (as opposed to English Pool tables) if that is your preference. As others have mentioned, you can also get 6 ft tables, either standing or foldaway (but...

John Higgins 147 today at the Crucible!

Not sure how you’re defining multi millionaires...but those three all are for sure (just to check I’m talking about net worth not annual earnings in case that’s what you mean). There is of course a huge drop off after the top 5 or so though.
