Ronnie OSullivans American Hustle Season 1 Episode 1 on Youtube

Good analysis, but my view remains the same, which actually may be aligned with yours, just from a different viewpoint. I would not say any particular game is harder or easier to win at (i.e. its tough to be World Champion, World No. 1 etc. at any discipline, be it 9-Ball, snooker or whatever)...

Ronnie OSullivans American Hustle Season 1 Episode 1 on Youtube

Why does it annoy you though? Snooker is fundamentally a much harder game, that's not even a debate. The key point however is that as pool is much easier, a greater number of players can win any given tournament and additionally you have to make fewer mistakes. Hence, at the top level it may...

Ronnie O in the Finals Again (Live Now)

Or to even it out more, how about: Snooker 9-Ball 3 Cushion (although tbh you could just skip the first two and go to the last for a decider).

2019 US Open Final 16 Format

You can now get Sky sports on a pay per view basis (i.e. for 1 day, 1 week or 1 month) too via Now TV. So although it is predominantly subscription, it is also now fully pay per view too for most sports (i.e. no longer just the big boxing events).

2019 US Open Final 16 Format

I think they meant, subscription TV channels, i.e. here in the UK it was not on free to air tv, but on Sky Sports, which is a subscription service (or pay per view).

Besides Steve Mizerak, did any other us pool pros try snooker?

The wiki page is quite interesting on maximums: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_break Its pretty unlikely back then the story is true...but not impossible, probably an urban legend that may never be proven...

Besides Steve Mizerak, did any other us pool pros try snooker?

This (if the picture works), hopefully shows a snooker pocket quite well: Whereas a pool pocket, has a different cut: Also, the rubber is cut in a different way: Pool cushion: Also, you are correct in saying snooker balls (not 'American snooker') are 2 1/16.

Snooker with a 10-second shot clock

In some of the interviews early on, some of the players commented how hard it was on this table to not leave a red off the break, so I think that was why.

If Billiards makes it in the Olympics...

Its probably something simple, like non formal compliance with IOC drug testing requirements or some other protocol issue in reality (they may never say that publicly and I'm just speculating of course). For me the Olympics would be far more interesting if more sports were introduced, rather...

Besides Steve Mizerak, did any other us pool pros try snooker?

True, but from watching the early days of the Mosconi Cup, World Champs in Cardiff etc. (i.e. the events where Matchroom got the snooker pro's involved), it was the break they all really seemed to struggle with...to a really strange extent too. In that most of them seemed to have a worse break...

Let's Make Jump Sticks, Tite Racks Illegal

    1) Jump cues are great great for the industry. In snooker for example a player may own 1 or 2 cues their entire playing life...in American pool, even most amateurs get through more than that in just a few years. The industry needs innovation and new equipment to exist. 2) Jump cues are great...

If Billiards makes it in the Olympics...

To be fair though, it makes a huge difference! Its one thing to say, who would win if it was any game played on a US table, thats up for debate. But if its 'billiards' ex carom then that does include snooker which would be a pretty boring: 1) UK 2) China 3) ? Realistically the most widely...

If you could put up $200down payment

That's sort of saying...why are there so many second hand Fords! If you sell a lot on the Primary market, there will be plenty on the Secondary. What Predator seem to do quite well is get people to upgrade regularly(ish), so there are always people selling to buy the latest one. I have no idea...

Pool and Snooker, differences and thoughts

I think its harder than most people think, quite often when people see an actual table for the first time and realise quite how big it is, their face is shocked :-) However you make some good points, pool involves a higher variety of shots and you have to make less errors...however at the top...

Pool and Snooker, differences and thoughts

Sadly the point about real estate is the same here, snooker clubs are closing down all the time (similar to the way you guys talk about pool clubs). Snooker tables being so big and our country so small its more cost effective for clubs to have 7ft English tables in them (similar to your 7ft Bar...

Pool and Snooker, differences and thoughts

Good post! Just a few bits...when Ronnie made his putt putt golf comments (if its the interview I'm thinking of...he may have said it more than once, so I might be wrong), it was probably about English Pool rather than American (assuming you're referring to the recent interview on British TV)...

Snooker halls definitely did, not really sure about the game as a whole, probably not to the same extent as pool.
