    pool and snooker

There's a few really good documentaries out there (mostly made by the BBC if you can get access), but the film version The Rack Pack, as mentioned by garczar is definitely worth a watch, it tells the story really well! In answer to the original question though, yes snooker is far better...

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

    A fair point!

    Jason Shaw, classless?

Indeed :-) Europe had a good run, but as others have pointed out, the better you play the luckier you get...the US outplayed us this year and deserved to win, it was a great cup and a great finish, which is good for the sport too! Also, although I wanted my team to win, I couldn't help but feel...

    Jason Shaw, classless?

Ignore the luck bit...I think we know what he's really getting at...he wants it to be a male model walk-off...Zoolander style next time round ;-)

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

Surely the equipment is getting better for all games? Also above 100(ish) in snooker it gets much harder as you have fewer balls, so 120+ is really difficult, whereas in 14.1 it’s no harder to get 115, than 100 and so on (other than mental strength of course).

    2018 WPA World 9 Ball

When Matchroom used to run the WC and held them in Cardiff they seemed to bell well received by fans and players alike, Corey commented on how the players used to like them during the England v USA match and I know over here getting a few snooker players involved was a smart move as it generated...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

I missed that, that's actually quite funny, I like to see the players engaging the crowd (so long as its good natured).

SJM Slant on the 2018 Mosconi Cup

Speculation yes...nonsense no. However please check the post I was replying to...I was merely pointing out it was ridiculous to state all the claims about the American team beforehand were inaccurate. BEFORE the event, they were based on the information available and seemed appropriate. If you...

Does Winning (and Playing) Like He Did Make SVB A Future MC Monster?

This has been discussed to death...but...short races still mean the favourite wins greater than 50% of the time (otherwise Europe wouldn't have won 9 in a row and the US wouldn't have won the first few Cups), it merely reduces the edge of the stronger player. As I also pointed out on another...

SJM Slant on the 2018 Mosconi Cup

    1) Styer was a great pick and played well 2) SVB actually turned up 3) Europe in general were below par 4) Kazakis was awful If any one of the above hadn't occurred Europe would have won, however they all did and USA played better, fully deserving the win. That doesn't, however mean that all...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

True...but the difference was a) Kaci looked better even when he was struggling and b) he stepped up when it mattered. But fair point...maybe 'by far the weakest' was an exaggeration, still the weakest though. That said, I like the fact he showed so much emotion, that shows how much it means...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

Not sure what you were watching, but they were hugging him every few seconds afterwards...even during the game they came to re-assure him after every rack. He was the weakest link by far, its professional sport, there will always be someone who is. Hopefully he will come back stronger and cope...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

Nerves...it’s undertandable! Congrats Team USA you were the better team and deserved it. Also for all those who claim this is just an exhibition, look at SVB’s emotion when winning, look at Kazakis in tears. It matters.

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

Kazakis has had a poor cup, SVB has been reasonable (poor for him...but reasonable by his Mosconi Cup standards) so it should be an SVB win based on form.

MC: A Couple Thoughts On Jayson & Sky & Matchroom & Fans

Agreed, was quite pleased to see the Skyler / Shaw handshake yesterday, after Skyler got jumped on by his team mates he made sure he went over to shake hands and Jayson gave a proper respectful handshake (as opposed to some of the avoid eye contact and barely touch hands from previous years)...

    Mosconi Cup Finale

Ouschan plays solidly, wins 5-3. Shaw stays calm, wins the lag, Styler breaks dry in rack 2 and he's 3-0 down inside 10 minutes, he doesn't come back, ends up losing fairly convincingly. Corey hasn't won a point yet has he...so that could be 9-9. If it gets to that then I can see a Euro...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

I think he's right that the US has actually under-performed on the lag for quite a few years, its not the only reason for the change in fortunes, but it probably is a factor.

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

I think if it was announced up front that the crowd wasn't expected to be quiet at any point, then that's okay (not sure if you've ever seen the snooker shootout, but that has no noise restrictions and you still see an exceptional standard of play given the conditions). My only gripe is that I...

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

Yes, that was my point...its by far the best event of the year. However that doesn't excuse the people that only try to put off the US players by calling out when they're down on the shot.

    Mosconi Cup week 2018

They should (and have in the past) when that happens, I seem to remember Michalla doing it a few times.
