Article says : "Hitting a Baseball is the Hardest Skill to Pull Off in Sports." -- Not IMO

Hard yes, but hardest no. In the example you give, winning a (lets assume major) tournament, the obvious reason pool can not be the hardest is that the world snooker championship lasts longer than any pool tournament, so straight away for that particular aspect it must rule pool out.

I don't think pool really comes close in this debate in all honesty. Remember this is about the hardest skill, not what it takes to win at the top level (all pro sports presumably require a combination of talent, dedication and mental strength). For example, to use the baseball case, a 10 year...

One other factor you need to consider...in Baseball the pitcher isn't allowed to aim at your head, in cricket its an acceptable tactic :)

Sorry Fatboy.... the orange 5 is not coming back!

Credit to Karl Boyes for those interview questions, he clearly did his research into what people were asking. As for the 5 ball...I like everything Matchroom are doing...except that. The cloth I was sceptical, but it works, even the black and yellow 9 I can live with, but the 5....one tweak too...

It seems much more positive than over here! In the UK there is an increasing movement to shut down gambling completely, now it won't go that far, but there is talk of bringing in very draconian measures such as over zealous affordability checks and having deposit limits capped at ridiculously...

Article says : "Hitting a Baseball is the Hardest Skill to Pull Off in Sports." -- Not IMO

The only direct comparison to baseball (well not direct, but the closest viable one) is cricket. The speed is similar (top level bowlers reach speeds of 90-100mph), but the key difference is that the ball typically hits the ground first, this lowers the speed (normally), but introduces another...

Now mainly Cazoo, a UK/European car leasing company. Betting companies were the main sponsors, but there is a lot of anti-gambling sentiment in the UK at the mo, so they are slowly being replaced (e.g. Cazoo will sponsor the 2023 World Championships instead of Betfred).

That said if you had to pick one player, to play for your life without knowing the game (I'm ignoring Carom billiards for now) you'd probably opt for Ronnie!

    Ronnie

Excluding Carom Billiards, Mark Selby has to be in with a shout: 1 x English Pool World Champion 4 x Snooker World Champion 1 x Chinese 8-Ball World Championship Runner Up

    World pool masters tables?

Just approximately, no idea in reality, I just meant that its not relevant to the vast majority of fans that the centre pockets are 0.x inches larger than the corner ones. That kind of stuff only matters to a tiny, tiny percentage of hardcore aficionados.

    World pool masters tables?

Probably because they are trying to promote pool to a UK / European audience and 4" makes it sound tougher. Constantly explaining that the middle pockets are 0.5" larger (or whatever) probably doesn't really matter to 99% of tv viewers!

These questions are always subjective and there are only really 2 contenders, Stephen Hendry vs ROS. I think for many, this 7th title has swayed many towards ROS, as in snooker (unlike other sports), the World Championships are so much more prestigious than the other events (although there is...

What table size for room size

I have come across this rule once, when playing in Germany against some locals, although oddly it wasn't anything to do with space, just a local rule it seemed, I never took advantage of it myself as it felt so ridiculous! All that said, what is tolerable in a bar, is one thing, if the local...

    2022 World Snooker Championship (Apr 16th - May 2nd)

Snooker.org is aimed more at those that wish to gather data, the site offers API access (unlike the WST site), so the format can probably be excused as most users don't actually look at it!

Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

Yep, nice summary, I think that articulates the difference quite well!

Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

I'm actually quite used to the pink 4 in all honesty and I don't really mind that, but the colour change of the 5 does take some getting used to! I have the Aramath Pro Cup TV set and I think that was a decent colour scheme for TV, I don't like the new ones, but given pool balls last forever...
