Why I'll never own a pool table

You are correct sir. I could entertain the idea. Single young guy with living room space to spare....... a nice 7ft Diamond, maybe even an 8ft Diamond (there is a sizeable tournament locally that runs 8fts) and I might just invite some over. Probably not everyone.... haha.

Why I'll never own a pool table

This I can definitely get behind the positives of it. No waiting, no playing strangers that you'd rather not play, much better equipment, atmosphere as quiet or as loud as you want it with whatever music you like. That might tend to mess with my psyche sometimes, if I ventured out away from that...

Why I'll never own a pool table

Your stove analogy is on point, I suppose that if going out to eat was the ONLY thing that gets me out of the house socially, that I'd turn away from getting a stove if I didn't have one. Trust me, if most houses came with a pool table like they do stoves, I don't think I'd go out of my way to...

Why I'll never own a pool table

It might seem crazy, but here's my theory on why I don't want to have a pool table in my own home, even though one will fit. Pool is my social outlet. If I had one I wouldn't get out to play, and I don't think I would go on trips to play pool as much. Pool gets me out of the house, when most...

Opponent on Cell Phone - Disrespectful ?

I check my emails for work when I'm playing. That being said, I'm always doing a double look while I'm doing this, being sure to have attention on the game and my opponent. Sometimes I just can't help it. Also sometimes I'll be picking music on the jukebox. Caveat - I don't do this in league...

    Thinking about writing a book...

I'll ask Jay about it, honestly not expecting to make any money on it. Just want to get my story (or some of it) out there. It may not be an exciting read, or it may be great for some. To me, getting it out of my mind and onto paper would help me relive those moments.

    Thinking about writing a book...

I was just thinking about trying out writing for a little bit. The stories, although maybe boring, would be true. With plenty of detail and background, and colorful characters. Some names changed, others (maybe?) would remain the same? Obviously wouldn't publish anything until legal...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

Moon later claimed that he was never formally invited to join the Who permanently; when Ringo Starr asked how he had joined the band, he said he had "just been filling in for the last fifteen years." ---- Friggin'..... Savage.:cool:

    Your highest run/package

One pocket ran 8 and out twice (not consecutive, in my life) Nine Ball - 4 pack on a 9ft diamond that was from I think the 2010 Derby 10 Ball - Not more than 2 pack Straight Pool - 37 balls, done it a couple times and think that's my highest Snooker - don't play 3 Cushion - don't play Bar Table...

What pool game improvements have you made during Covid?

I've been playing semi-regularly, for about 4-6 hours at a time once a week ( I know it isn't enough) ** I've been focusing on taking it more serious, getting out, not taking shots for granted, and giving every shot the respect it deserves. Speed of the cue ball and control. Makes for more...

Turning point of getting to next level of play

I learned that I get a lot farther in tournaments when I play every shot as if my longevity in the tournament was at stake. In reality, it is. Every shot counts, every positional leave. Watching the pros play, I notice more and more how they play their beginning matches the same way they play...

    Nice out by me

I had a not so bad couple outs in this tournament. This landed me an 8th place finish. I was a six handicap and the other guy was a three. And he was on the hill. I played semi strong. I’m happy with my turnout, with 53 players. 20 of them could have won it. https://youtu.be/jxlI6B2E1RQ

WWYD -- 9 ball total trap

Being a left hander - I like leaning over the 6/CB and going one rail to the left side, playing to just miss that cluster and go the second rail, aiming to hit the 1 but also being fortunate to hit the 9. I'll take the foul and force the opp to run out, at least better than the easy 1/9

To every poolhall and bar tough guy

Well then let's just say that this cue ball throwin', liquid courage guy, was a not so good dude. That makes mr. cue stick smacker a hero. There, we settled it.

What makes a custom cue expensive?

The shortest answer I can come up with is, yes. To the right player, they play better. There's a certain hit that's gathered from every piece out there, but only the player can identify what they are after. After decades of playing, picking up on a "how it hits" is relative to every...
