    Brunswick Willy Hoppe Stick

Hi all. My one pocket partner asked me this yesterday. he's got an old willy hoppe stick, the one with the brass joint. After all these years, the shaft is at about 11mm. He stopped playing with it because of this fact. He went to a newer stick with a 13 mm shaft, but asked me if there was...

Why Do I Do This? Long thread.

Tom, I'm not sure whether its the effort that is bothering you or the drive. If its the drive, I'll make you a deal. You come down to Prov for a tourney and I'll put you up at the Motel 6 in Seekonk. Pretty new place. Not too far from Snookers. Of course, nothing is for free. Maybe a hour...

    Sandbagging at APA National level

Just remember one thing. There are skill level judges (unmarked) in the stands. These are LO's that have experience. So for those who will bag, you'd better be good at it. The problem with the system is that its like horse racing. The fixes happen AFTER the match, in most circumstances. tim

    Mosconi Cup 2010!

I must be getting older. I'm not too thrilled with the accomodations over there close to the venue. Read a bit about the neighborhood not being the best. I suppose its only a few hundred yards from the tube, which means that you could really stay just about anywhere. I haven't decided yet...

    PHILLIPI "Model 16 Ginacue Tribute"

Let me help your cause a bit. I think the rub is with the shaft descriptions. Answer a few questions for me. Shaft #1. Predator ? Looks like one. All shafts: A little movement ? Almost all shafts have a little roll. Question is, just how much ? Shafts 3 and 4, what is the ferrule...

    Mosconi Cup 2010

First of all, everyone left it on the table last year in Vegas. I tried so hard to create a mood the first day, wound up drunk as a skunk, certainly no more rowdy than they will be in York Hall and the Big Guy threatened to toss me out! All the better it was to kick Euro butt that day. Can't...

    Pool Players with Charisma

Hi all. Jay, my choices weren't as colorful as yours, but I still believe they deserved a mention. Jay "Swanee" Swanson and Jimmy Fusco. Especially Jay. I recall them walking into the players area together in the old Chesapeake Holiday Inn for the US Open. I'd always stop them to say hello...

    The Riv again....

Its very simple. Since the APA is a cheap organization (read: it makes lots of money, but pays very little out), it obtains cheap space. Well, now the place that the APA has used for its cheap labor, et.al., is going down for the second count. Perhaps we'll get a better deal out of it all...

Any Info on Mini Mania Schedules ?

I've emailed to APA, but I suppose they are too busy counting cash to post mini mania schedules. Can't imagine how or why they need so much time, but thought someone on AZ might be able to lend some insight. Anyone have a schedule ?? thanks, tim

McDermott Standard Shaft Vs. G-Core Shaft

Less wood outside, more proportional core inside should equal more squirt. I still like the G core, but it does buzz a bit more than the OB classic. tim

McDermott Standard Shaft Vs. G-Core Shaft

No matter what, you'll find that the gcore hits pretty stiff. I've got one on an old D-16 and I like it very much. I'd say that an old mcd shaft hits as well, but you really need a better ferrule to get there. Something like a paper based Micarta. Hits well, but much, much different. Very...

    My new Starkey cue

jay, did you get a shaft with that parabolic taper that Chuck does ? I have one too, but have to send back to chuck to get a wood maintenance joint protector so that I can spin the shaft on a lathe. I've been planning a new micarta ferrule for the thing. Anyway, enough of mine. Nice blank...

    PLEASE READ old westinghouse micarta

Now I know we are on the same page. The "ping" is definitely there with the paper based stuff and it is quite addicting! Thanks for posting your observations! tim

    PLEASE READ old westinghouse micarta

I've been using the paper based stuff and it still plays great. No knock against the real stuff.... tim

Kamui Tip Hardness Chart..... very interesting

Now that's funny. I too had nothing but problems with Moori's glazing over, but none of the same with Wizards. Machining them is a buggar, that is for sure. Very tough tip. But to me, that's what makes them good. More spin should come at the cost of more deflection. BTW, ivory deflects...

    Before & After

Artist ??!!!!! Glen is a certifiable LOON! Anyone who would take on a job like that has got to be one. But we're all dang happy he is. Sounds like I'm staying in Tacoma during my next trip to SeaTac. tim

Kamui Tip Hardness Chart..... very interesting

Good for you. I can't stand them. I had Rich Harris take them off my BG and put on the only tip that never fails, including at the price point. Wizards. Hold chalk, easy install, no mushy hit. Kamui's were ALWAYS miscueing and they always required attention. Wizards, put them on, play with...
