    Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

Yes, I based that on his form over the last few years (in particular the last couple of seasons)...but I also did not account for his age, in my head he was a lot younger than that!! So yes I stand corrected he is very unlikely to even get close!

    Chinese pool

I've never actually seen one, was just quoting a distributor for Joy tables...3.07 is crazy, why would you do that to yourself :-) Not sure if this link will work, but I found a good picture of 2 balls in the jaws:

3.625 inches, not sure exactly where that’s measured from though.

    Ronnie O'Sullivan 1K Centuries - Contest!!!

If Hendry could have played on longer he would have broken 1,000 no problem, sadly a combination of breaking his cue and 'the yips' meant he just couldn't play anymore. O'Sullivan will be the first to 1,000, probably this season (depending on how much he plays in the second half of the season)...

    ...

From your posts I get the impression you play to a reasonable standard and probably therefore also have cues that are decent quality. Given the cost of joint protectors, why go without? Even if they don't offer any meaningful protection to the pin (and I'd argue they do offer something at...

Who are the people that claim pool is on the down hill slide?

Snooker pros don't even put in hours like that and they have a prize money incentive to do so! 4,5,6 hours yes....but 10...probably unrealistic for a pro sportsman, let alone a pool 'pro' (I use inverted commas as most pool pro's aren't true pro's but good amateurs that earn a bit from their...

Who are the people that claim pool is on the down hill slide?

A fair point, but it doesn’t change the fact that short races are the only viable option going forward (in the short term).

Who are the people that claim pool is on the down hill slide?

Shorter races and the favourite not winning are better for TV (note that snooker now often has best of 7's / race to 4 in many events). Its not great for the purists, but it creates upsets and short sharp matches. It won't appeal to all, but pool needs to find a new fan base to expand and...

    14.1 mod etc.

Ha you’d hate what I play then...typically: 14.1 race to 30/50 8-Ball race to 5/7 9-Ball race to 5/7 I.e. 3 short sets, a different game each set. That said I agree with you in reality, it’s way too short for a proper session of 14.1.

    USA vs. England, MC warmup

Odd venue, Spots and Stripes only has 7ft English Pool tables. Strange for them to stage it there, rather than a venue that already has US tables. Maybe its just easier for them to install a Rasson table there as English tables are very easy to move on a trolley. Odd the public cant watch...

Sky confirmed for Team USA Mosconi Cup

Matchroom will be desperate for a US win, they run this event to make money therefore they want the strongest US side possible (whilst respecting their own rules on qualification criteria) otherwise viewers and sponsors will eventually leave.

Sky confirmed for Team USA Mosconi Cup

The first 3 were based on points, the latter two were wildcard picks (albeit I think Albin was 4th, based on points anyway).

Alternate Break is a disease upon the game

Very true! I'm not really sure there's a problem in all honesty, some tournaments work well as Alternate Break, some as Winner Breaks, both are good! Even combinations work, when Matchroom used to run the World 9-Ball Championships in the UK (if my memory serves me correctly) the group stages...

    Shaw team Europe

Absolutely, for the cup to continue this year has to be close, ideally with a US win, otherwise sooner rather than later the sponsors will get fed up.

    Shaw team Europe

Exactly, may have made sense 20 years ago...not so much now!

    Shaw team Europe

That is exaplainable I guess in that the first scenario had a 7 year gap, so as Bob said it’s possible that would be more than enough time to qualify. In the second scenario Politics may come into play, given the nations involved...although more likely the representation/qualification rules...

Ah cool, he deserves another shot at it, good to hear.

    Shaw team Europe

Yep a fair point, but I can't see any pool player willing to miss out on the event with the highest exposure for 5 years to represent a team that is on a horrific losing streak, so I'd wager he'll stick with Europe ;-)
  19. V

    Shaw team Europe

Its probably not come up yet, but he would be a dual national UK/US in that scenario and having already represented the UK/Europe/Scotland in competition would therefore logically be obliged to continue to represent those in team competition. I'm just applying the logic most global sports do...
