    Rules Question - Why

Sure they do. The ball is not pocketed unless it remains in the pocket. The fact that someone might not like a particular rule doesn't mean that it isn't a valid rule. We run into that all the time in golf. People think you should be able to roll a ball out of a divot in the fairway instead...

    Rules Question - Why

Ahhhh Yes, the OP raised the question about the rules of play It has nothing to do with rules with respect to rules relating to equipment specifications

    Rules Question - Why

Why does my "post itself raises questions about specific rules and their validity". Which rules do you question the validity of based on my post about the subject of this thread?

    Rules Question - Why

Why? Did you not read the Original Post before jumping in here?

    Rules Question - Why

It's not. There are rules for gear specs. Having said that, the cost of equipment rises dramatically with ridiculous, unnecessary requirements based upon an extraordinarily rare situation. Silliness. But the thread is about the rules of play, and how to proceed under a given circumstance...

    Rules Question - Why

The rules apply to the game, regardless of the equipment. Have you ever watched any Philippine pool? Table "certifications"? Yeah, no.

    Rules Question - Why

I congratulate you if you've only played pool on tables that are perfect. But the point is that the rules have to apply to those tables that are not too

    Rules Question - Why

Says who? Sometimes you get good luck, sometimes bad. Sometimes tables are perfect, sometimes not. The rules don't care which. The game is what it is.

    Rules Question - Why

Or we could use, "if the ball doesn't stay in the pocket, it's not pocketed". 😁 The rules don't exist to help or to hinder. They don't exist to punish or reward. Only exist to tell us how to play the game. And again they have to do so in a way that everybody plays it in the same manner when...

    Rules Question - Why

How would you rewrite the rule so that there was no subjectivity? So everyone would proceed in the exact same manner when encountering the exact same situation?

    Rules Question - Why

Rules are written so that all players encountering the same situation proceed in the same manner. If you allow for subjectivity, then the rules aren't rules, they're only suggestions...

Is salotto popular in the usa?

No. I'm sure Mike can give us the actual numbers, but I bet it doesn't even come close to accounting for 1% of the games in the system...

    Best feeling in the world....

Oh my. You shouldn't have gone there. You can think you're doing better. Playing well. Improving... But you can never say it out loud. As soon as you do, the pool gods will give you an epic beat down. That's just the way it is. Ask me how I know! 😑 😂😂
