    Practicing with unchalked tip...

I'd look at it like this maybe... Say that the leather tip of a break cue is porous on a microscopic level. After you've applied the chalk, you're then slamming the tip into another hard object that is not porous. This forces the chalk down into what little pores the leather might have...

Why Dieckman Does Not Use IVORY

Well yes, but there are other varieties of Rosewood, like East Indian for example. This varietal is less prone to cracking than Brazilian, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of cuemakers used it instead. It also costs a lot less. :D

A final pm to a cuemaker..

Which is as it should be. Feedback is only used by those who have had direct transactions with a seller and want to relay how that transaction took place. As far as I know, you've never had a transaction with Varney, so you're not really entitled to leave feedback. What I was saying is that...

A final pm to a cuemaker..

I also wonder about why people are afraid to leave negative feedback against him. So far one other person and myself have been the only ones to leave negative feedback, yet there have been handfuls of unsatisfied customers of his every year.

Is this who you're talking about? Can't say she's very easy on the eyes, either one of them.

Why Dieckman Does Not Use IVORY

Can't say that I've ever seen a cue made out of a near extinct species of tree. Trees are much easier to cultivate than elephants, as elephants die much more rapidly when in captivity rather than in the wild. Elephants also don't breed well in captivity due to a couple of factors such as...

Super nice curly maple - Check it out

God, I absolutely love the look of that wood. Tiger/curly/flame is probably my favorite with quilted maple coming in a close second.

A final pm to a cuemaker..

Two of the threads already linked to are under that timeframe. My own transaction with Varney is less than a year old as well. Now we also have this transaction with Petros. That makes 4 just in the past year. Truly? It took me tracking down Varney's home address and getting in touch with...

A final pm to a cuemaker..

This is ridiculous. How many more times is this going to happen before he's banned from the board?

As everyone's stated, great looking cue Jim. Really surprised someone hasn't picked this up by now.

A final pm to a cuemaker..

I'm sure he's hoping that Varney will try to come through in the attempt at keeping his name out of this and that other thread. Unfortunately we all know that isn't going to happen and he'll just get more promises and maybe a cue a long way down the road. There are plenty of other great cue...

    New player with some questions.

I second the idea of you getting one piece house cues first. They'll play great, and as you grow, you'll realize what you like and what you don't like. Those Muellers are a screaming deal at $20 a pop. I'd say you got a pretty good deal on that table as well, $450 is not bad as long as the...

    Soaking Chalk in Milk Results

Along those same lines, maybe you could mash up some old firecrackers and then "infuse" your tip with those. It would make your break... dare I say it... explosive? :groucho:
