Examples of Murphy's Law as it Relates to Pool

There is no Murphy's law applicable on the table. It's pure physics. There is no question about how the balls will act. They will move and go to exactly where the physics allow them. It's math, an exact science. Now the player and Murphy's law, that's a whole different story. Ignorance allows...

Best used 9' pool table for under $1000?

It's true. But not everyone knows what they have. I also think it kind of depends where you live. Some people get into or are getting out of a house and they just need the thing gone. Last year I saw a Gold Crown 1 in immaculate condition for $750 and then she dropped the price to $500. I...

    just a lil rant

I play that all the time as practice by myself. Never thought about 1 vs 1. I've never played APA, or understand it. But I always see people on here ranting about sandbagging in it. It's made me realize, don't ever get into an APA league. Is there sandbagging in other leagues? I imagine so...

How many here are big fans of 8 Ball Pool?

A lot of truth in that post. One the top three pool players I've ever played against in life would run the table 70% of the time easy. I would play what I thought was a great safety and without much thought he'd play out of it. The guy knew how to get around the table and never really moved the...

How many here are big fans of 8 Ball Pool?

I have a bar box at home and playing 9 ball or 14.1 just doesn't work on it for me. That being said, I'm a fan of 8 ball and it's my game of choice. BCAPL rules as they stand today. Never been a fan of the 3 foul rule, it changes the game play.

    Why a new cue?

I've been playing the same cue since I got back in the game about 10 years ago. Maybe I'll get there at 60 or 70 and still have a game.

    Why a new cue?

After reading through the lifetime cue thread it got me thinking. Why would I get a new cue? I have two production cues, retail on one was about $225, that's my player. The other I pulled out of hock at the second hand store for a friend, he never paid me for it so its now mine, for $110 I got...

How to Find the Perfect Pool Stance

Look forward to watching it. I knew my stance wasn't set-up the best. Yesterday I tweaked it a little and made it more stable and I believe I was shooting better because of it. But I only hit around 12 shots. Gonna work on that tonight.

Your in a slump: shoot through it or fast?

Oh yeah, totally get that. But when you play, as much of that other stuff you can keep out of your head the better your game will be. Live in the moment, whatever that moment brings. I love fishing. My pool game will go down hill until about late July when it gets too hot and the rivers get...

Your in a slump: shoot through it or fast?

What causes a slump? If you play frequently enough to recognize you're slumping odds are you haven't had a mechanical breakdown. Maybe if you had a physical change in your body, heavy bruise, sprain/strained something, etc. I believe it can be traced to either less time on the table or a...

    Table markings for drill shots

I use white chalk often to mark the table for drills. Doesn't take much and eventually it will wear away. I've also snapped a chalk line onto the table. Drills should be customized to shots the player has difficulty with. Play your game, recognize shots you miss and why. Create drills to...

    John Barton us open ban

Seriously, you really said that? John is a highly passionate guy from what little I've known of him. I don't blame him, don't know the whole story. Do I put it past him based on what I do know? Hell no. I hope the right outcome prevails.

    Even 8 ball

Sounds interesting, I'll have to give it a try. I came up with a different way to bet 8 ball but it just further buries the person who lost. There is the initial bet on the game itself. Then there is a value placed on the balls the loser didn't put down. Might play a game for $5 and then $1.00...
