If matchroom wants to make it more competetive why don't they switch it up a little. Why not move the races to 7. And after the lineups are set for the day the Captains would alternate in choosing what game will be played according to the opposing lineups. The games being played would be 8 ball...

I can't speak on behalf of the custom cuemakers, but OB makes the OB-1+ and OB-2+ low deflection shafts with a wooden ferrule. I have tried both of those shafts and the hit was a soft hit.
