The History of 9 Ball Pool???

Jansco Brothers at Johnston City It was George Jansco at the Johnston City tournament in 1965 where for the first time 9-Ball was played “On any foul (except the break), opponent may place the cue ball anywhere on the table.” -- that is from the JC 1965 9-Ball rules!! That's a good 15-20 years...

Best 5 one hole player *ever*

I cannot fault that list at all -- although I would change up the order a bit. But being from different eras it is tough to compare from different eras! All of these players have had great runs!!

    John Schmidt at BullShooters

Thank you Bob, that was quick and not only an answer but a reference!! Well, let me think about the pocket size for a second.... OK, well here is one way to look at it, if Mosconi ran his 526 on a table with 5-1/8" pockets, do you think the fans of today would think it was acceptable if John...

    John Schmidt at BullShooters

Does anyone know for sure regarding some of the record runs of old, if they were all done in one block, or were any of them done in subsequent blocks? I ask this because they used to have challenges that were long races -- say to 1000, but they were not completed in one day's session -- the...

    John Schmidt at BullShooters

I've really enjoyed watching John Schmidt, and I hope someone sponsors him to get back to it soon -- thank you again Bull Shooters and Tres Kane and whoever else made this possible!!!! And of course the biggest thank you to John Schmidt!! I first met John when he came with a buddy of his (maybe...

Watching mr. 400 trying to break the record

Well the thing about yesterday's run -- and all of John's in Phoenix for that matter -- is that you can go back and re-watch. I did not see the start...

    1949 Fats and Mosconi

Well, the late Jimmy Fusco of Philadelphia told me that when Willie and Fats were going to play their TV match with One Pocket as one of the three disciplines, Willie was concerned enough that he insisted One Pocket be played last of the three, with the idea being it would be irrelevant to their...

    Remove Sharpie From a Shaft

On kitchen cabinets this is exactly the combination I would use -- never tried it on a cue stick though. The denatured alcohol evaporates very quickly and does seem to be a "solvent" for magic marker. Magic eraser is a very gentle abrasive.

HOW GOOD J B Rugged Cue cases ?????

I LOVE my JB case! I have just a plain black 4x8 nice and simple and durable and plenty of pocket space. It replaces an It's George case that is about 20 years old. The latch is no longer reliable on the George and the pocket is too small, but other than those issues, and being a bit nicked up...

Getting Rid of Pendulum Stroke. Digicue Loves it.

When I enter "digicue.net" I cannot get my browser to take me to digicue.net no matter how I try -- it redirects me to an obcues.com page selling digicues. WTF is with that????

John Morra plays left handed now

On second thought, Neils had just finished his stroke, so he was probably turning his head so nix that thought about shooting under his left eye.

John Morra plays left handed now

I know this thread is about six months old, but I've been working on my photos from Derby City a couple weeks ago, and seeing a few of Morra caught my attention. OK, I am definitely neither a champion nor an instructor, I'm jusst a pool-playing photographer lol. But honestly I don't get the...

    More Space at DCC?

There is a onepocket.org regional member tournament coming up in Memphis -- this is the second one there, and that is probably the one you are thinking about. The Grady rule is in place there (after 2 hours), as it was last year as well. I did hear Greg might come along to see how it goes.

    More Space at DCC?

That is a pretty good assessment and it made me laugh too :grin-square: The ceilings in the parking garage are probably too low to accommodate table lighting though. And yes, I was there for the ice storm -- fortunately I was already in the house so it did not bother me. It did keep some...

    More Space at DCC?

No need to pick on just the One Pocket though! 9-ball went from race to 7 to race to 9 a few years ago, and starting Wednesday, 9-Ball is the DCC TD's priority, so starting Wednesday the One Pocket starts to fall behind. They also blame the HOF dinner Wednesday night for the One Pocket needing...

    DCC results

Wow -- you mean even with $7500 on the line and down to the semifinals, two players passed??? I don't understand that at all! I know the DCC Tournament desk works hard to accommodate match schedules to avoid conflicts, so I would not think that was what it was. It is ironic since the straight...
