one pocket strange occurrence - what's the ruling?

To be honest, I CAN see this happening in a game, lol. But I also have to say that it is certainly not covered in the One Pocket rules. It's possible that some of the general pool rules address accidental replacement of balls that were pocketed back on to the field of play but I don't recall...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

Not true -- you come across like a thief that naturally thinks everyone else is stealing :D

LED pool table light- anyone use a dimmer?

No -- sorry -- but doing a lot of kitchen remodels as my line of work, I see a lot of LED lighting in the last few years. You need an LED compatible dimmer sized right for the wattage you have in your table light -- and a professional electric supply house should be able to help you with that...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

Placing a wager on your own game enhances the competitive experience in my opinion. There is more incentive to play your best, and more incentive to play smart and disciplined. It's not for everyone, especially players early in the learning curve. But once you figure you have "learned the...

    One Pocket Rules

I got a small suggestion for those of you that want to use some kind of marker put it in your pants pocket instead of on the table . If you have the right pocket put it in your right pants pocket; when you have the left pocket put your marker in your left pants pocket and you'll be a little more...

Play One Pocket to improve in every game

I agree with the opening poster on this. But having played mostly One Pocket for about 20 years, yet almost accidentally finding myself playing rotation games for the first time in about 20 years over the last year (thanks to American Rotation), I have to agree even more with the poster below...

    azbilliards and onepocket.org

I own Onepocket.org and I wish I had the techno savvy of Mike and his AZB staff. I do the best I can with what little I know about the techno side LOL. Mike is always working to improve AZB, my hat's off to him!

Travel Time and Distance to Your Pool Hall

I drive about 35 minutes each way (about 35 miles) 3x a week to play (two weeknights and one weekend long afternoon usually) -- and then once a month or so I drive an extra hour so on the weekend to a bigger room that has more competition -- and One Pocket :)

Standard rules of 9 ball 50 years ago?

They are close, but the nuance difference is that tactics is more immediate like how you play a safe or how you play a shot. Strategy is more over-arching, e.g. why you might play a certain style more than another style -- such as aggressive vs defensive. That's how I understand it. A lot of...

Standard rules of 9 ball 50 years ago?

According to my research on the Johnston City tournaments, the Jansco Brothers introduced ball-in-hand anywhere on the table following a foul in 1967 -- that's well before "Texas Express".

    One pocket question ???

The OnePocket.org rules defer that call to the general rules, and the modern general rules go by the base of the ball. One notable exception is at Derby City -- DCC goes with the old school of the entire ball needing to be over the line, but they are the exception, not the rule :grin: It...

    Need Help...Players from the 60's & early 70's

When you scan, you can usually select what form of output with your scanner. For posting a pic in forums, jpeg is the standard. For your records you might want to scan in higher resolution (larger files) than you could post in a forum -- because of the usual forum smaller file size limits. But...

Jerry Briesath & Conrad Burkman should be in the BCA HOF

That is a great point Jay! We take the availability of sound pool instruction for granted today, but it was definitely not always that way -- pool was a game of well guarded secrets. It was essentially Jerry Briesath who opened that door forever...

Great Site with Pool Player Pictures

That was the personal website of the late great bar table player 'Surfer Rod'. Unfortunately although it is a nice collection of pics, many of them are snitched from other sites, as far as I know without any effort to get permission -- such as Mary Kenniston's Facebook albums & Bill...

Jerry Briesath & Conrad Burkman should be in the BCA HOF

These two guys have done more for pool over the last 40 years than about anyone I can think of without the recognition they deserve. They may not be as glamorous as some of the recent inductees but just take a look at their rock solid contribution to pool over that time! Conrad published the...

    Viking VM9

I wonder if any people knowledgeable about Viking can shed some light on the ring & joint design, which seems to differ from the Blue Book illustration, and other VM9 cues I found online. I am assuming it was some kind of Viking option at the time this cue was produced... Also, does anyone...
