    The Art of One Pocket

Thank you mattb -- for following up with the review, and not to mention pretty good review too 😆 I shipped out a total of three donation books to a cross-section of AZB members for review because of your inquiry in this thread -- still have a couple more reviews to come in -- maybe this thread...

Name a pool hall you wish was still open today

Weenie Beenie's room that was open 365/24 for 14 years I believe -- would be another good one to visit if you could travel back in time... Was it Guys and Dolls or?? I did go once for a couple of hours mid 70's when I was driving through the area.

The Art of One Pocket by Steve Booth

Thank you Matt!I was getting about ready to do a "self review" of my own book lol. Actually I still might do that because honestly I have a good perspective -- and although of course I would be biased, that might get more than offset by the fact that we are often our own worst critic, and I...

One Pocket hall of fame Country's Cue Value (for a friend)

Yes, his daughter went with Charles Martin — I figured she would know 😅 And yes, he was definitely involved in the famous “The Rack” in Detroit, but he had a long career involving about everywhere across the country.

    For the Taom Chalk Users

    What a cool idea!!

Its George info? Was pointed out it's an earlier case by the strap having a metal "hook",not the velcro used on later examples.Any idea of it's age?

I have a case EXACTLY like this one -- worn and all also! The clasp on mine is not always 100% reliable which is the real reason I stopped using it. There is nothing worse than having the top of your case come loose and your cue come clattering out on the curb as you are putting it in your vehicle!!

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

Thank you Lou -- you continue to surprise me! PS I have never seen Dave play any game (except on his instructional/science videos), but I have seen Bob Jewett play, and he plays real good for a scientist -- or non-scientist for that matter!!!

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

I think the video is a nice straight forward short intro to the game, and I can see from watching it that indeed you are well aware of onepocket.org. Yes, i do have to admit to a little disappointed with the failure to credit the onepocket.org rules — especially given that you illustrated some...

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

Well now that you mention 9-ball (shiver lol). That’s a good example of a game that has trouble making up its mind as to what “official” means. Especially regarding the rack and break! I get it about whole ball vs base for that very reason. Like I said above, I agree with you. But I listen and...

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

I figured that! Two smart guys!! Just to be clear, all of the “options” in the onepocket.org rules are pretty clearly separated from the official rules, and they are identified as “options”. Personally I’m with you and Bob btw — in favor of “base of the ball” vs “whole ball”, but even if it...

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

What would be scary would be if the some WPA committee that was poorly represented in experience with how One Pocket is actually played came out with rules that did not well reflect how real One Pocket players like to play the game, and how experienced One Pocket TD's like to see the game...

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

Nice job Dave -- I just watched the whole video. I would like to point out, that many of the rules you illustrated in this video (such as your whole section on when to spot balls for example) were not in the BCA rules for One Pocket at all -- they only appeared as "official" rules starting in...

How to Play One Pocket – with the Semi-Official Rules

The OnePocket.org rules are the official rules if you ask nearly any tournament director, or when players have a dispute and they look up the rules that is usually where they go for their answer. They are the go-to rules, whether you consider them "official" or not. And that is because they were...

    Question about Jose Parica

... and Gloria Walker (among Jean's rivals). Gloria I believe was ranked #1 one year during Jean's reign, and several times 2nd. That's my recollection anyway, which could be wrong.

    End of the US Open?

In a thread like this, I always look for you and Bob Jewett in particular :) Thank you for your insight! It has been amazing watching the rise of international pro players over the last 20 years. I would say that (along with of course the rise of One Pocket lol) has been by far the biggest...

Gray Cloth at the Mosconi Cup

Just out of curiosity I thought, I could watch couple Mosconi Cup videos and see what chalks are being used. So I cued one up and in the first few seconds, there it is, a piece of what sure looks like blue Taom chalk sitting on the rail during the lag!

Gray Cloth at the Mosconi Cup

A poolroom near me is about to debut gray cloth. I use Toam blue chalk -- those of you that play on the gray, do you use blue chalk still or will I need to get gray Taom? edit -- if there even is such a thing as gray Taom. I see there is a light blue though -- maybe that is what they want you...

SJM at the 2024 Derby City Classic

Great to see you again Stu, and as always, thank you for your astute recap! I wonder if it would make any difference in the scheduling if they made just one change: players have two options only for the "buy back": They can sign up for the buy back when they initially register for the...
