Cupping The Chalk In Bridge Hand

When I started playing pool back in 1960's there was an older player called Ike that used to cup the cube of chalk in his closed bridge hand also. Asked why he did that, Ike explained that during the depression when you found a good piece of chalk you never let go of it. -Dennis

    Push shot

Here is the World Standardized Rule for push shot foul: 6.8 Push Shot It is a foul to prolong tip-to-cue-ball contact beyond that seen in normal shots. Does this mean in a situation where the CB is frozen to the OB, I can't "push" thru the Object ball but can still hit thru it with a normal...

    14.1 Score Sheet

I like the score sheets in this thread, but need my glasses to enter information (I play without my glasses). My preferance is playing tables with the rotary counters (or even beads). I find them accurate (if they are working correctly) and keeping score is quicker than recording info on a...

    Rules question

To clarify the situation, I played safe and my opponent picked up the CB and moved it. I called foul on him, which he acknowledged. I think the question is: Would I get ball in hand behind the headstring, Leave the CB to where it was moved to or restore it to it's original position.

    Rules question

Something happened today in a match I was playing. All of the balls were bunched together by the foot spot except for a lone ball up table. I called a safety and pocketed the lone ball and stuck the CB to head rail. I spotted the ball and my opponent looked over the stack and found a dead ball...

Oliver Ortmann vs John Schmidt - IPT Ultimate 14.1

This is great. Thanks for posting the link. One of the first live streams I watched several years ago when IPT was going. I also used to enjoy playing on nap cloth once in awhile to "work" a little harder but now that pool room is all simonis cloth. -Dennis

Anyone know of 9' tables in Iowa?

I was at The Corner Pocket In Ames about 4 months ago. They now have 2 Gold Crowns along with the 12 foot snooker and Aniversary. Great prices and a great bar. The Blue Note in Marshalltown (formerly Jilly's) is a great place also where you can play either pocket billiard games, 3 cushion...

    14.1 opening rack ball placement

All the more reason to play one set of rules for 14.1 (and all games). Right now, it seems (to me) to be World Pool-Billiard Association Rules. Dennis

Why Did The BCA Drop The Traditional Rack?

Am I correct here? The BCA is the North American representative in the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and by that relationship should have input and vote on the WPA world standardized rules changes. The BCA Pool League (BCAPL) is a separate entity and not the Billiard Congress of America...

Why Did The BCA Drop The Traditional Rack?

I do agree that the 1 and 5 are more clearly visible. Even though it is not required by the world standarized rules..I would rack 1 and 5 in the corners as a courtesy. But... there is a need for just ONE set of rules used everywhere.
