IDK, wax sure acts as a barrier to chalk and it is easier to remove the chalk when it sticks to the wax, imo. But I respect your opinion. I like using wax on wood shafts because it saves on "sanding" the shaft to remove the dirt and chalk imbedded in the shaft. Joeya
