    Jerry Briesath

I used to work for Jerry back in the 1970's at CueNique Billiards in Madison, WI. Jerry was definitely a trendsetter in creating beautiful rooms that left the old style halls in the dust. One of his inventions was an electronic table management board that he collaborated on with a local UW...

    Last minute tax deduction idea

It may be a bit late...but here's the idea... Let's get some tables in the schools. I am pretty sure that the lingering recession has left most of our local amusement operators with bar tables stacked to the horizon, collecting dust. The amusement operator could donate (recycle is always a...

    Dynamical Billiards

Obvious proof that hanging out a pool hall is no good for our youth. This is undoubtedly what they were talking about when they coined the phrase "evidence of a misspent youth". Maybe Dr. Dave can take a stab at putting this in layman's language?

    72 Pool Cuties

One of our users at work was at this site and somehow managed to send 50 pages of output to his department's printer....oops! When we investigated why this site made it past our porn filters we determined that it isn't actually what the filters consider to be porn. Highly suggestive, yes. Very...

    Just for your information.

LOL - What were you two doing under the table in the first place? (just kidding :-) Seriously, Glen has probably forgotten or discarded more ideas and better ideas than most of us will have in a lifetime. For those of you that don't know him that well, this man thinks about pool at least 24...

    Highly Polished Balls Skid More?

I have a homemade polisher and use Brillianze Plastic Cleaner (thanks Cuebuddy) most of the time and with every 4th or 5th polish I use the Meguiars Quik Wax spray. The Brillianze is "drier" than the Mequiars and therefore the balls seem to skid less than if they are on a Meguiars-only diet...

    Just for your information.

I apologize for apparently defribbing this old thread. While I was in the Mechanics forum last night asking for help as to why my friend's (non-RKC set up) center slate on his new $11k table was going down like a Florida sinkhole, I saw the Sticky on the GC4 that referenced this thread...

    Just for your information.

1 year later - GC4 is holding up very well, thank you. The GC4 in the pictures with the frame and carpet mods is mine. It has been close to a year now since the table was set up and I have had no setup related problems whatsoever. These mods are solid and they work. Period. Re: Glen not being...

    Brunswick Barringer slate dropped 1/16"

Thanks, Pat. That sounds like a reasonable explanation. The table is in a building adjacent to the main house and is still being remodeled. The first time I played on the table we could only get the temp up to 50F. We have had some sub zero nights here lately and I don't know what his heating...

    Brunswick Barringer slate dropped 1/16"

My buddy just purchased a new Brunswick Barringer 9ft. about 3 weeks ago from a dealer in Florida. The dealer drove the table out in a van and set it up here in Colorado - everything was fine and I was impressed with how well the table setup seemed to be. Tonight I went over to give the...

    Why English?

No offense intended! Etymology can be fascinating (to me anyway) however, I have yet to find a good reference book online source for the subject. Oftentimes when there is no easy answer the signal to noise ratio can suffer.

    Pool table playing surface

As I recall, one of the (common) modern tables is actually a bit wider at 50.25 or 50.5 inches x 100"...or maybe it was +.25 or +.5 on the length...I can't remember which table this is but RKC knows the answer. I wish the AZ search engine would let us search for things like "50.25" but it doesn't.

    Why English?

-Are you pulling our collective leg? I'm sure he is pulling our collective leg on that one. However, the prison league/duck butter story is true.

    Why English?

It's probably a colloquialism used in prison league play. My guess is that if you find yourself in that situation, opt for being the "duck buttor" and not the "duck buttee".

    Double Kiss Banks

Good question...you're making me think. With the two types of banks (crossover and non-crossover) I don't know of any hard and fast rules for double kissing. Most of us, as you say you do, just do it by feel and experience. The usual variables (rails, humidity, english & speed) might allow...
