Props to you for even cleaning the bar tables! Virtually all of them (around here anyways) are left to succumb to the ravages of time and dirt. The most oft cited reason is, "People are hard on the equipment and they don't really care anyway."

Just had all of my old playing cues tips replaced with Talismans (thanks Cuebuddy). They seem to hold the chalk well and play fine. Very minor complaint was that I had a few miscues until I had a couple of hours of playing time on the new tips.

Get to the venue early and get comfortable with the people and your surroundings. Introduce yourself to players on the other team, if necessary. Try to get as many things as possible handled ahead of time...do you have enough quarters handy, or whatever tasks you may have...etc. Play some...

For what it is worth -- promptly updating the list will give the raffle a better chance of filling.

My 2 cents worth of advice is... ...do it only for the games you usually play. For example, if you're a 14.1 and one pocket player then a line from the foot spot down towards the foot rail would be helpful. It would be of little value in 9 & 8 ball games where everything is usually down.

Watching long-time players leave the chalk upside down on the rail drives me nuts! Does this bother anybody else? (If I'm alone in this, I'll get counseling)

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, is your difference possibly due to the way balls that have just been cleaned play vs. balls that need to be cleaned?
