New Poster for Johnny Archer Classic: Tell us your thoughts

I know almost everyone loves this poster, so I'll just point out a few things that jumped out at me.... What's the game? 14.1, 9-ball, one pocket ??? What time does it start? What's the field size? What's the payout? etc. You're lacking much basic info. Graphically it is out of balance. And...

Are there Gold Crown bar tables?

RKC or anybody... Any thoughts on what it would take to cut down an 8 or 9ft GC and make a 7ft GC. (I know, just buy a 7ft Diamond) I still think it would be a cool project for someone with skills.

Are there Gold Crown bar tables?

Cool! This next weekend I will going down to Denver for a pool weekend with a couple of buddies. I heard that Felt has some relatively new Diamonds where the old GC's were...does anybody know if they have the Diamond BBs?

What positive effects has pool had on your life?

Wow! I am very relaxed now! If you are looking for artistry and creativity in pool you've got to try the pool gqme Einstein-Nine. It is the only pocket-billiard game I have found that radiates its secrets like a Fibonacci shell. (back at ya :-) All kidding aside, if you prefer chaos theory to...

Are there Gold Crown bar tables?

I've neither seen nor ever heard of a 7ft gold crown. Although it might be fun to try and make one. :-) hmmm...A mini-GC4 with the bronze package and super tight pockets would be way cool. Especially if that was all the table you had space for. I've never played on a 7ft. Diamond, so my...

What positive effects has pool had on your life?

I've had Parkinson's for 13 years now and pool is the one thing at which I can still be competitive. It provides excercise, stretching and a variety of other benefits. Without the heartbeat of pool I would have wound up depressed and adrift in life a long time ago.

AZ member screwed by Bill Stroud of Josswest

Wasn't it Buddha that purportedly said, "attachment is the source of all suffering" ? Whatever Bill's reason was for not delivering we may never know. IMHO you seem to be in the right, but what you are doing to yourself is a far greater tragedy than someone not getting a free cue. Free...

I read that the Adam / Helmstetter cues sold their business, and are no longer made.

Thanks for the friendly educating. No offense meant. I was just trying to save some keystrokes. Post now edited. That's the great thing about these forums: if a person doesn't have to be "right" all of the time, we can actuallly learn from each other. Fred

    Einstein nine

You guys should just play the game a few times. The rules make more sense when you are actually playing the game! E9 - Quick Start Guide Rack the balls as in 9-ball. Pick one of the foot corner pockets to be your pocket. Break the balls. Player must hit the lowest numbered ball first on each...

I read that the Adam / Helmstetter cues sold their business, and are no longer made.

IMHO, the Adams/Helmstetter/Balabushka are great to play with if you like traditional old school feel. And yes, the Japanese-made ones are the best - Chinese made are hard to get excited about. There were a few limited edition models that will probably lead the way higher, if/when the economy...

    Einstein nine

I like to soft break from the opposite side as in traditional one pocket. Although rather than scrubbing whitey along the rack, I try to hit the one ball fuller and bounce it off towards the side rail just above my opponent's pocket.

    A rack of 15 8-Balls...

That's an interesting observation. I have thought of all 9's before and don't think it can hurt. Ultimately, the best thing you can do is spend so much time on the table that you don't even think about the shots. Of course, perfect position is what brings that inner sigh of relief - knowing...

    Switching over to 3 cushion?

Has anyone here gotten rid of their regular pool table and gotten a 3 cushion table? If so, did your buddies still come over and play? I've had a nice Gold Crown IV in my home for a few years and probably use it 3 or 4 times per week...usually with the same shooting buddy. I have a local pool...

Warped rails making slate pop up?

The 3rd time around I convinced him to use the Super Glue and they still eventually separated. Usually every 6 months we use a torque wrench set at 12 ft. lbs. to check the rail bolts.

    Playing better players

The best pool "lesson" I ever had was with a better player at a room on Ventura Blvd. somewhere around Sherman Oaks, CA. After playing 9 ball for hours at $2 a rack, I ended up gladly losing $42. After the game, he said, "Play as good as you can for as cheap as you can."

    Recreational Gambling on the Rise?

Is anyone else noticing that it is getting easier to find people that want to play for something these days? It almost seems like many older guys are dusting off their cues and after reading one of the plethora of "My Road Story" books want to bet some.

    Gold Crown V or Diamond???

Ideally you would have 2 of each, with each of those 2 having regular and Pro cut pockets. The GC will cost you more, especially with the pro pockets (done correctly). There is an easy fix for your sagging slates on the GC4...

Warped rails making slate pop up?

My buddy has a 9Ft. Brunswick Barrington, purchased new about 3 years ago. His installer is saying that he can't keep the slates together because the rails are warped...is this a possibility? The installer says that Brunswick won't give him new rails. Is there any easy way to see how true the...

    For the gamblers out there

Great question! If you felt sluggish, I would guess they started playing long on you. Also, your type of stroke can be a factor. Tensing up will probably shorten the bank. Minimizing the number of variables is nothing that a lot of reps can't fix.
