Diamond ProAm vs. Brunswick Gold Crown

LOL, very clever :-) I guess the asthetics come down to whether you lean towards the Washington monument or Rodin.

Diamond ProAm vs. Brunswick Gold Crown

If it were new vs. new then I'd go with the Diamond. But when I am thinking used GC vs new or used Diamond, then I would vote GC...because: Grew up playing on GC GCs seem to be better balanced, nothing too great & nothing too awful Asthetically superior...approaching iconic Lots of these...

    One-Pocket 9-Ball

Give Einstein Nine a try. The game is totally addictive. The main difference in playing E9 versus one-pocket is that you really have to watch out where you hit the lowest numbered ball. Cuebuddy took 10 years of playing and changing around the rules to come up with the current ruleset. There...

    Unusual methods of keeping score?

l use an abacus. My wife won't let me put up a scoring string (or clocks with billiard balls, or pictures of dogs playing cards for that matter) in our living room. Does anybody have any unusual methods of keeping score? Any electronic methods?

    Archer's View on Diamond tables

I am not going to read all 20 pages of this to see if someone has considered the Diamond rails to be the culprit (assuming this thread is still about balls skiddiing). In Freddy the Beard's DVD set, Freddy says never to hit the cue ball in the center as that can cause whitey to skid/skid more...

    Denver Pool Halls Closing

fwiw-TS/BI was not so great after they cut it in half, lost the good food and had the ink people running it. I was playing 3C the with a guy that could shoot some 3C (he ran a 6 on me) and he told me about a place called King Billiard on S. Havana just across the street from Bozarth Chevrolet...

    Steves Klapp cues - Pics

Recently I inquired on AZ about getting some recommedations for where to buy a quality kid's cue. I have (2) 10 year old girl students who are passionate about the game and I wanted to get them nice cues to play with. One of the responses I received was from a gentleman named Steve Klapp...

    Magnetic Variable Play Cloth

I was pondering the new convertable Diamond 3c/pool table and the inherent compromise that the new owners will face it comes time to select their cloth. I am no engineer, but what if you could make cloth with magnetic properties that could change from fast to slow by changing the magnetic field...

    the center of the cueball

Take any striped ball, e.g., the 11 ball will work fine, and wipe it off so that it is clean. Then set it up so number 11 is right in the center of the ball. Shoot your shot using the 11 as your cue ball. Look at the chalk mark on the ball and if you're not hitting the ball right in the center...

RKC Diamondizing my table as I type!

It is not a Diamond vs. GC thing. It's more like would you take your Mercedes to Maaco for paint and body? Here was my story... http://home.comcast.net/~fd_colorado/gc4/gold_crown_4_story.html well worth any wait, IMHO

Wanted - Kid's Cue, Need Advice

I need to buy a cue for a 10 year old girl. I am thinking that somewhere around 40" and as light as possible would be good. I have found house cues online at 36" and 42", but most seem to have 13mm ferrules and who knows how heavy they are. Does anyone know a source for a quality house/2 piece...

Carom's Siren Song in Colorado & A Carom Cloth ? - Long Post

I went down to Denver last Sunday to play in a small 9-ball tourney. I was about 20 minutes late due to all of the returning weekenders clogging up I-70. So no go on the 9-ball. The room had one carom table. Now I'm not an accomplished carom player by any means, but I can run 2's a bunch with...

    Cowboy - Rules ?

If there are any Cowboy players out there, I have a couple of rules ?'s that either aren't covered in the BCA rulebook or where I need some clarification. 1) Can a carom be scored by hitting the cue ball into 2 object balls (that are sitting next to each other) without driving the cue ball to a...

can u realy compete at 50

My 2 cents on the subject... Certainly an interesting question. As a 53 year old player, I have a few thoughts on older players: 1) Time is not your friend. As mentioned, eyes, backs, aches and pains all get progressively worse with age. Pain pills cloud thinking and it becomes much harder to...

What to do with these Mr. Billiards short cues?

I found these two 48" Mr. Billiards cues at a second hand store while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. They look to me like something from the 40' 0r 50's. A buddy thinks they might originally have been bumper pool cues and that they might make interesting jump cues. Probably the pricing...
