Is Johan Ruysink out as USA Mosconi Cup Coach after only one year?

I think a U.S. victory lap is in order...have the team come around between tournaments, hit several rooms (who would kick in expenses and something for appearance) and have the team play mixed doubles with local players as partners, head to head "beat the King", type stuff. Earl's been doing it...

    Mosconi Cup 2019 Day 2 (26 Nov)

How many games do Filler and SVB get to play? Are the coaches putting them up too early and too often? They seem to be the hottest on each team, so, okay...but are we spending our dimes too early? Shaw might smoke us on Day 4....:frown:

    Minnesota Fats

Back in the early 60s, my mom dated a guy who was a short-stop in the Des Moines area...she was a big fan of the Hustler (especially Jackie Gleason). One night she gets a call from her boyfriend who says, "Guess who I ran into?"., and he puts Fats on the phone..."How ya doin', Kathie? This is...

No, I got it in 5/16 x 14, since I have so many butts with that joint...I currently use it on my Schon STL 17, it hits awesome.

    Cuetec Cynergy 15k

Since it's arrival last week, I have played about 3-5 hours everyday with it. I simply can't put it down. Now, the Sniper tip is well broken in and plays pretty damn good. Was going to change to a milk dud, but I'll put that off. I play it with a Molinari glove, which works great, but I can...

    last mosconi spot

Max's game was much tighter than Cory's in Russia...Cory seemed to be too loose with the CB, and just flat out didn't play as well as any of the others, Max included. I'm rooting for Max--I'd love to see Cory make the team and I won't be bummed, but I think Max is hitting a gear now and I'd...

    Tips pros use... Surprise !

I only shoot with Pooldawg8's milk duds...they're the nuts. After a day's breaking in, they last me about 6 months of heavy daily play. The trick for me is to not touch the tip once I get it shaped, my playing style and chalking keeps it in good shape. After a few years' trying out various...

Well, that answers that...:) I personally HATED LePro, they mushroomed on me before I even hit a hall...

    Tips pros use... Surprise !

I believe his go to tips were the original Moori tips, he was getting old stock for years until it dried up. I also heard he flirted with milk duds of one type or other. Never heard he used EM, but would bet he's tried everything at least once. Mike Gulyassy told me Early went through 13 tips...

    Tip shaping frequency

I think a lot has to do with the tip you choose to use...your mileage will always vary...OP wanted to hear what I do, that's what I do. When I shot with triangle tips back in the '80s, I had mushrooms every session.

    Tip shaping frequency

I've been using Pooldawg8's milkduds for several years now...I will re-dress/shape it once in the first week (if needed, sometimes it's not) and maybe once more during the life of the tip. My chalking action wears down the tip at the optimum bevel for me, and as you play the tip will compress...

    Matlock vs Keither

I saw him come out of retirement year before last to play a little 10 Ball in MD...He still plays VERY sporty. This would be a very stream worthy event if it ever happens, and viewers won't be disappointed.

Consensus "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) List

Fine...then you can't use the term "GOAT". Greatest modern era, whatever, but not All Time. Points of comparison notwithstanding, just straight up championships and comparisons from their respective eras would count in a comparison. That said, "Efren 5" for me. And for the record, I think he...

What % of players can run 100+ in straight pool

My father (who ran over 100 a couple of times) always told me that you can't call yourself a straight pool player until you run 100...before say 1970, 100 ball runners were a lot more common than today...that said, since so few play the game anymore, I'd say less than .5% (half a percent) could...

Does pool need or want Hypebeasts?

Many a player started out with a McDermott, many still play with them years later. My first three cues were McDermott D-series cues, they played jam up. Anything that gets someone in the door as a "serious" player is a good thing.

    Deposit for custom cue build

Deposits aren't that unusual...I've paid deposits for the two custom cues I had made by two different cue makers, one of them highly regarded. If he's got to special order a big piece of something like Abalone or MOP or something unusual, or a hard to get wood and then starts on your cue, it...

billy kirshner AKA billy the kid

Yes, I think you're right, it was Jerry with a J. I had heard he'd moved to the deep south (Mississippi?) and found religion and a family (?), but was slipping back into the game...but that was a long time ago, I forget a lot and what I don't forget I remember wrong... He was one hell...
