It's a dead horse but...this pic might sum up why USA doesn't win the MC anymore.

Yes, but Snooker was lightly attended and rarely televised until Matchroom, Betfred and others started promoting it...if only Barry Hearn would bring his magic to this side of the Atlantic, maybe Sky Sports would televise one of his events if he paired up with promoters here, and the U.S...

Where is best pool room in Maryland area?

The Brews and Cues is monthly, next one is 14 January (Saturday). Very nice Diamond BBs, great tourney, thought the races are short. Big turnout, Shawn Wilkie and Brett Stotlemeyer among others. I think Steve Fleming and his wife run it for the owner, it's a tight ship. Owner told me he's in...

From time to time people ask me for advice on their game..

Big time jealous of you I am...:D That's why he could run 100 balls on command and stopped at 526 'cause he was tired. He could make the shot and get shape 5 different ways, depending on what the pattern was...just find the path and he would make the CB follow it. The top ranks of today's...

BEM Plain Jane's Only---- Show us yours!

Gulyassy Here's my daily player...pretty nice BEM with a little curl to it, too. Hits even better than it looks!

Another Pool player gets held up at gun point!!

My Grandpa told me the same thing...it is interesting that the Japanese impressed quite a few Koreans into their Marines and Army, too, and those guys are typically larger in stature.

Home table guys, how much do you play?

3 hours per day, 7 days per week...Weekends it's more like 6 hours each day. Diamond Blue Label 9' ProAm with 4 3/8" pockets. I'd play more, but I've got to work/eat/sleep sometime...

    3 Cues - Questions for {{YOU}}

That's my testimonial and I stand by it...I'll add that the balance of the cue makes it feel about two oz. lighter than it is. I've hit with just about everything out there and this one is the best I've tried. And it won't break your bank. I don't know where you are, but anyone in Northern...

    How would these have done

Well, the year Nick Economopoulos surprised a stunned SVB at MC, Shane went on over to Athens and played him for some coin on his home table...10 Ball race to 50...and drilled him. Absolutely the finest 10 ball ever recorded on tape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3YSOu_ew4M Format counts...

    Mosconi Cup

I think this is good advice...the howling, craziness is actually by design; Matchroom wants the same kind of atmosphere that they have with darts. It sells TV advertisements. The challenge is the team isn't really picked/finalized until shortly before they get on a plane. I'm really curious...

    IPT Ten Years After

Didn't Mike Sigel get a bye all the way into the finals? Seems like he did, at least a couple of times, maybe it was a special event? I never understood how that worked...unless I'm wrong, and that's certainly possible. How's his amateur 8 ball league coming along? He explained how his...

    MOSCONI CUP LIVE (Score Updates)

Interesting remarks...classy. But interesting in he raised the specter of another continental team competing against the EUROs...maybe it's time to have a team Philippines or larger team Asia enter the fray. Let's say there are three teams vying for the MC; two teams play to see winner play...

    New Practice Routine

Not bad...I think any drill that focuses you on a goal is beneficial. I personally prefer a ladder/progressive drill, such as running three balls in rotation, add a ball, run the four, add a ball, miss a shot in the five ball attempt, go back to four balls, then back to five, add a ball for...

    MOSCONI CUP LIVE (Score Updates)

3 Reasons we suck at this... As I see it, there are three reasons we aren't winning now, and you can see it clearly... 1. Team. The Euros lay all their emotions, self pity and blame on the side of the road and show up and support their team mate(s) when they play--every time. The only team...

    Gulyassy PHX

My Christmas present came early...I called Mike Gulyassy and talked him into selling me his playing cue (he made it about a year ago). It's his new patent-pending PHX cue, a build technique he is keeping close to the vest until the patent is awarded. PHX is short for "Perfect Hit Extreme"...

    Cue identification help

Frankencue? I think it's some sort of Frankencue or repair on a cue, to repair a broken handle section or A joint. The ring doesn't appear original, as the dots on the points are way too close to the ring to make any aesthetic or logical sense...I'd be surprised if it turned out to be an...

    CM360 Referencing System

Duc: My father was using reflections of light on the OB and CB as reference points for alignment in the 1950s, and my maternal grandfather (who taught me by playing straight rotation) used a combination of light reflections and shadows for alignment as far back as the early 1940s, so the...

New cues with all maple shaft

Best hitting production cue with all solid maple shaft in your price range would be Schon. Custom wise, I'm now a huge fan of Gulyassy...best hitting cue I've ever run across.

    Tip replacement pricing

I'm in Northern VA and pay a guy $20 to put on tips I provide to him...so, $20 for the labor. The cheapest I've found was $15, and that was at a tour stop where the guy was putting tips on all day, as fast as he could turn the lathe. Cue repair guys maybe replace 2 or 3 tips a week some weeks...
