    Rasson vs. Diamond tables?

So, the side pockets are the same size as the corners? And Charlie Williams specified this?

So, how much really is "straight grain" important?...

I've heard it said that Balabushka only wanted straight grain forearms because he felt that knots, sugar stains, run outs and any saple type grain patterns were at the end of the day imperfections that deadened feel, affected straightness or otherwise negatively effected hit. I would assume...

Have you played Pool......in a foreign country?

Yep... Over 27 years in the Army, you bet I've played a little abroad... Panama: Played a couple of hours on a 100 year old 5x10 Brunswick furniture table in the rubble of the Balboa Deni police station that we had just destroyed and set up our Battalion HQ in during OPERATION JUST CAUSE...

    maple shaft

Gulyassy Mike Gulyassy, hands-down. I've played with his SPTX shaft for almost 5 years now, phenomenal...I recently purchased his playing cue off him with two new SPT shafts. Best hitting solid maple shafts I've EVER hit with. He's a genius with a lathe....

Johnny Archer: can make impact on Mosconi Cup Team

Love JA and will always be a fan--he's on the pantheon of the pool gods...that said, he's had his chances and is not in the top 5 this year. His experience and knowledge (and the respect his team mates always have for him) is valuable, but we need firepower more than player/coaches. IMHO, he...

    London Pool room

The Elbow Room The Elbow Room (there are two in London) on Westbourne Grove (just west of central London) has I think 6 Brunswicks (not GC, but close) that play pretty good...two problems: the place fills up early and stays busy all night, so you have to get in before 5:00 pm to get a table or...

Break question - where to hit the cue ball?

Everyone forgets/misunderstands the impact of speed/force on a CB, even when it's sliding or spinning backwards...when you slam the CB, you're loading potential energy in the forward direction that isn't completely overcome by the resultant force of impacting against an OB or the rack in the...

RIP "The Wedge ' Frank Wojciechowski

Wow! This is sad news indeed...I wonder if Jerry Rauenzahn knows, they were road partners back in the day. I shot pool with him a lot over the past three years, the last time I saw him was a few months back when he cashed in an Action Pool Tour event; hadn't seen him since. A truly nice guy...

    looking for a pool room

I travel there every 4 months for business...I enjoy Chalkies in Merritt Island; Friday night 9 Ball double elimination tourney, Saturday Chips Tournament. Lots of small action, decent players, friendly staff and atmosphere, although lot of smoke and some characters. A couple of nights per...

    »»»»»»»} Old Schon {««««««

Notice that the rings on the butt line up perfectly...first time I've seen that, Schon always seemed to go out of their way to NOT line up the rings. The model doesn't ring a bell for me (I've got a '93 STL17, and that vintage is my favorite of the Schons), but there were a lot of...

    Original G B

Really? I've seen a few over the years, Balabushkas with a leather wrap were known to be very well executed...I know the vast majority were Cortland, but the first Balabushka I ever saw had the first leather wrap I ever saw...but I admit that's anecdotal, not proof.

    Cue info needed

I bought one of these for my brother back in 1988..paid a touch over $200. It still plays great, hits about like a comparable McDermott D model.

    Bought Brunswick Metro

There are Metros in Europe; I've played on Metros all over Europe, mostly in Greece and Cyprus. Check on line and Google the Cyprus Billiards Federation; email their director and he can put you in touch with a guy in Nicosia that has them in his pool room ("Louisiana's"). He had to move to a...

Karen Corr wins Action Pool Tour

I told her Saturday at the tournament that with her second place in Turning Stone, folks can stop talking about Balukas; Karen's the real deal...this wasn't a surprise.

Change Shafts Like There Throw Aways

Heck, I don't even clean my shaft but maybe once a year, with a dry microfiber towel and denatured alcohol. Every time I get a tip change I have to stand over the repair guy and remind him NOT to touch the shaft...just the tip and ferule. The only shaft I've ever replaced was a Joss shaft that...

    Pool Player culture

This game is full of introverts...the fans are players, too, so also tend to be introverts...you have to be to have the energy to spend all those lonely hours playing.

    Tighter pockets

My Diamond has 4 3/8' pockets...I achieved this by having Diamond use thicker pocket facings, vice adding shims. Any tighter would have required different subrails and much more $, so...4 3/8' is plenty tight, you gotta hit them mighty pure and it's really hard to shoot past interfering balls...

Those with home tables, but no one to play with.

I've got a 9' Diamond Blue Label ProAm for about 8 months now...I put in 3 hours per day on week days and either two 3 hour sessions or one 6 hour session Saturday AND Sunday, if I'm not out of town. Even out of town, I'll find a room for a 3 hour session.
