    Fusco-Davenport....on now

You know, something I've noticed watching all these old Accustat videos...the old time greats' PSRs include lots of measuring strokes, almost as long as the execution stroke...in Kim Davenport's case LOTS of measuring strokes. Miz, Segal, Varner, Buddy, just about everybody did similar. Most...

    Earl Strickland Jump Technique

I used to jump with a full length cue very easily...until Simonis 860 became the standard everywhere...the older nap cloth gave the CB a little purchase when cueing down on it. Slicker worsted cloth lets the CB escape sliding forward a little too easily. There's a reason everyone's using a...

cue ball flying off table 2nd ball 8 ball break on bar table

2nd ball break does leave clusters...I like it, you can develop those as you go, plus, even against really strong players, you're not necessarily giving up an easy run out if you fail to get out. As for the hop, a little draw helps...a little inside pulls the cue ball into the side rail and...

Just got kicked out from tourney

This...you gotta let the small tournaments lay fallow for a bit before coming back. I used to play a lot of small bar box tournaments back in the '80s, I'd show up late after everybody paid in, or I might kill it. I'd win, then move on for two or three weeks. Back then there were enough to...

McDermott D16, Felini & Ann Gore case questions and values?

"German Silver" was indeed an option for D series cues...I considered it when ordering a cue once...it's a copper/nickel/zinc alloy. A buddy of mine ordered a Palmer with an engraved German Silver joint, which was an option for one of those lines. It looked sharp and looked silver when...

Thoughts on The Hustler and Color of Money books?

I'm in the minority...TCOM book was a well written book, kind of a redemption tale--although it really doesn't have much happiness in it, but not really a movie a pool aficionado would like...TCOM movie was actually a better story that complimented the Hustler much better than any movie based on...

2022 World Cup of Pool Draw: Thoughts and Predictions Thread

I was the U.S. Defense Attache there for three years (2010-2013)...Pretty sporty players, but not really in the same class as the rest of the field, IMHO, although a couple play regularly on the Euro Tour. There are a couple of scary players north of the Green Line (Turkish Cypriots) that could...

what are the all-time greatest pool matches?

I loved the match between CJ Wiley and Steve Mizerak...used to be on YouTube, but I think it got taken down. The best 10 ball ever played is Shane's lesson to Nick Economopoulos...

Stolen Cues & Case Alert! (Phoenix AZ)

Now THAT is a rare happy ending! Back in the 1980s I had a Joss J17 in a customized case stolen from the trunk of my car. I saved money for almost a year to get that cue...I put the word out and was getting calls for months about a guy in a Yankees ball cap driving a small white pickup...

    Spy Photo- Predator Testing

Shorter players don't suffer the hell in your back that taller players do over the course of a session. Yeah, at 6'3" I can more easily reach some shots without a bridge, but having farther to bend and squat down on most shots takes a toll, especially the older you get.

Carbon Fiber Shaft - Break, Shoot or Both

I just picked up a Cuetec Cynergy Breach break cue...12.75 mm shaft, phenolic ferrule, Taom 2.0 break tip; the CF filaments are oriented and overlapped a little differently than the playing Cynergy shafts (which I have 2), so the shaft is quite a bit stiffer. Great control and smooth as butter...

My friend got ahold of his late Dad's Gus...

He didn't even know what a Gus Szamboti was...He has no interest in pool, and would like to sell. I'm just trying to help him get it done fairly and safely.

My friend got ahold of his late Dad's Gus...

I was contacted by a good friend who came across what he was told was his late father's Gus Szamboti cue...he asked my advice on how to proceed (with a view to selling it). I'm thinking he needs to get it authenticated/appraised (by Barry?) and then offer it for sale to reputable buyers using...
