Do you remember your first pool hall?

Mine was a tavern ("Billy's Tavern") in Flatonia, TX...me and another delinquent would leave campus in middle school at lunch to play 8 ball on an ancient 5X10 Brunswick (they had two) for 15 cents a game. That place only had elderly folks playing dominos and drinking beer in the middle of the...

    Owning A Pool Table

I've got a 9 foot Diamond Pro Am in my garage...have had it for almost 5 years. I play 3 hour sessions (sometimes longer) about 4 times per week, and still play in pool rooms in the area. Nothing like waking up on a weekend and playing in your underwear or a bathrobe. I never get tired of...

Being a Mosconi fan, what can you tell me about this replica cue

They also made copies of Lou Butera's and Irving Crane's cues, too, among others. I thought hard about buying one or two of them years ago, never did.

    Best playing cue under $1,000

Mike Gulyassy makes a phenomenal plain jane cue for under $1,000...His cues hit great and are loved by all who have them. I've got one (his former player) and I play with it a lot, but I always go back to my trusty Schon. Probably a personal preference, but over the past 25 years I've had it...

Cuetec Cynergy Shaft Initial Impression and Review

Everyone seems to hate/complain about the Sniper tip on the Cynergy...I didn't like it at first, but it cured really nice and I've gotten a huge amount of mileage out of it over the past 6 months. It plays really great. I'm still a milk dud fanatic, but I might have to think hard about it when...

    Mark Wilson's "Ladies And Gentlemen"

that's about what I've been doing, and it seems to work. I haven't focused so much on each word, just the slow back and forward while thinking the phrase. I've found that the final pause at CB before the final back swing (where you visual/finalize your shot) is the most critical for me.

    Brunswick Metro

I used to play in a room in Nicosia, Cyprus that had Metros...they played fine and he had them there for years. I think they are a big step down from GC, but he seemed to be okay with them. He did all his own mechanic work on them, so maybe he knew how to get more mileage out of them.

    What model Schon

Yes...they changed to model numbers when they reissued a bunch of R, SL, SP, and ST and called them STL. My SL19 purchased in the early '90s is now called an STL17.

    What model Schon

Actually, it's now an STL 11...https://www.schoncues.com/product/stl-11/ It may have been and SL something, SP or ST, those lines were combined to the generic STL line, combining all the favorite models to include several of the R line. I agree with the others, it's likely from 1993, so it...

    "Transporting" Ivory

I doubt it would be TSA...CBP, yes, and they only look when traveling to/from the U.S. I fly with my cues all the time (and yes, they have the "good stuff" in them) and have NEVER had an issue. And they've inspected the luggage a few times (leaving a love note each time). I've also flown...

Mark Wilson Pool Clinc on YouTube

This was the MOST important thing I learned watching this. I've been playing for over 30 years and NEVER noticed the distinction. Then I went watching videos of pros and amateurs playing on YouTube, and sonofa***** he's absolutely correct. I knew really good players had slower backswings, but...

    Helmstetter cue

Is that a six pointer? If so, that looks exactly like a cue a friend of mine had in Leesville, Louisiana back in '91...IIRC, he paid about $350 for it. Nice looking cue, it hit pretty good. Wonder if it's the same exact cue? I've never seen another anywhere, at least in that neck of the...

    2020 Mosconi Captains Announced

So Johan's done? I'm sure Jeremy will do a great job, but I hate to see Johan go...Hard to beat his success record!

    Ralph Eckert dropping some knowledge

Another Rollie video with Emily Duddy has her give a (shock!) GREAT piece of advice...shoot the money ball with leave in mind...shooting just to make it leaves out critical brain power and leaves too much out. That's actually great insight and I can't remember anyone ever pointing this out...

    Tripped over this old video...

Starts at 12:19 of this video...80 year old billiards player Maurice Daly interview from 1928. Only a few seconds, but pretty neat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiKQW3ausPw

    Cf

Been playing with a Cynergy for about three months...can't put it down. I loved and played with Gulyassy SPTX shafts for years, and this seems to play better for me. Not that it improves anything that massively, but I ENJOY playing with it more, if that makes sense. I'll buy another at some...

My new Cynergy shaft fits my old Schon just fine...best of both (old and new) worlds. :)

Send Team USA to White House!`

Pool seems to be most popular in Blue Collar, Red State parts of the country...seems like it would play to his base and some not in his base. No brainer! Plus, he loves rubbing Europe's nose in it when he can. The RNC might be a place to start...

Humble Pie at the Mosconi Cup

Totally agree with this...Barry Hearn always had a "bad boy" personality in the mix with snooker, it adds drama and increases viewership. He did it with Earl every chance he got, with documentaries about it airing on earlier MC events...Apart from still being a kid and not really appreciating...
