Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

What I’ve found is lots of cue makers can build or will sell you a KW shaft but very, very few can build one the way I want. I’ve been waiting 3 months for the two I ordered from Jacoby that was optimistic they could build a heavier KW shaft. Just learned today the first shaft came in weighing...

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

Just wrote to Ned asking if he can build two heavier version KW shafts like the one on eBay that weighs 4.3 ozs.

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

Thanks Jason for the suggestions. I’ve contacted Pat and Jim and asked if they felt up to tackling what I want built. Now it’s wait and see what they think. Jacoby is no longer being considered.

Looking for wrap suggestions for my latest cue.

Contact Martin at Superior Cues or Gil at Castillo Leather. If Martin doesn’t have what you like or want, then he’d get it. This is just a glimpse…..do yourself a favor and call Martin.

Looking for wrap suggestions for my latest cue.

Dark Oxblood or burgundy color and either in Spanish Bull or Elephant Belly (not Elephant Ear) leather. I’d go to Martin Bick at Superior Cues or Gil Castillo at Castillo Leather for the best selection and prices.

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

Pat Diviney might be a possibility. There is a Kielwood shaft listed on eBay right now that weighs 3.6 ozs but the shaft is only 12 mm. So a 12.75mm shaft will be naturally heavier than a 12mm shaft and I’d accept a 29 1/2” length with a 1/2” ferrule. So with those additional allowances, Pat...

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

Played with 4 oz. original maple my cue shafts made by Bob Runde, Tim Scruggs, Ed Prewitt, Bob Owen & Jerry Rauenzahn. Kielwood wasn’t around when my cues were made. If it had been, then very likely this thread wouldn’t have been composed.

Cory is very particular about selling his wares and won’t tap his KW shaft for a different pin. I don’t think he’ll sell a untapped shaft unless he was desperate but he isn’t. Richard Hsu’s shafts are pretty but he hasn’t built many 4 oz shafts, the wait is crazy long, the price is absurd and...

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

Earlier this year, I embarked on another fruitless search which is not an uncommon experience for me. I spent years searching for a Hercek pool cue in vain and did the same thing looking for Black Speck Cortland Linen. I offered a substantial finders fee for any successful referral. Alas, it...

Are You Capable Of Building A Heavy Version KW Shaft?

For most of this year, I have tried to get a heavier version KW shaft because most are lighter than I require. Typically 3.4-3.7 ozs is what KW shafts seem to average and I want a 4 oz. shaft or very close. I have a Barnhart KW shaft that weighs 3.81 ozs (12.85mm). There’s a eBay listing for a...

    Recent additions...Tascarella and Schick

Not to diminish this thread but it seems like heresy to assign a Joel Hercek cue a back seat to any other pool cue.

    (-R-) New Rauenzahn (-R-)

I have two Jerry R. cues from the Bushka I and Bushka Il special ltd runs Dean Campbell spearheaded. The two nicest, most talented cue makers wound up making me a couple of cues & became my best friends thanks to Deanoc…….Bob Owen and Jerry Rauenzahn…….dating back to 2012/2013. Both of these...

Do you think Pool is Fun?

Hitting balls solo has zero pressure involved. You cannot voluntarily invoke a sense of anxiety, stress, nervousness, doubt, worry, uncertainty that accompanies winning or losing a game or match that had any consequence or importance hitting balls alone. It is a total waste of time. Now play the...

Do you think Pool is Fun?

No….pool is not fun…it is a continual work in progress. As such, it accordingly aligns with one’s hope & expectations. Is pool satisfying? Absolutely, otherwise I’d quit and so would you. Is pool frustrating? Oh boy, it causes molar grinding. What’s your motivation behind playing pool other...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Gosh…..you can smell Pledge Wax 10 ft away from where you apply it. Hope they at least used lemon scented.

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Well, I recalled that BCA prohibited the use of waxed or polished pool balls in a sanctioned tournament. Apparently, WPA is the governing body because BCA now references WPA’s rules which strictly forbid using polished balls or waxed cue ball in a sanctioned tournament. The pool balls can only...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

BCA had a rule, dunno if it still applies, that pool balls in a tournament cannot be waxed or polished before a tournament. Balls could be only be washed with soap and water or denatured alcohol.

    Cork wrap opinion?

I think Penn linen fishing line is a very high quality wrap for pool cues and Blue Mountain is a close 2nd. Cortland is still #1 and searching is frustrating, plus #9 is usually all that you see and it’s kinda expensive.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

You must have prior experience with green wood shafts or something. My Palmer shaft is likely older than you and straight as a taut string approaching 60 years old. My Schon cue was completed in early ‘85 and is like new. Wood shafts can warp and can dent. You can’t always eliminate the warp but...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

The first 3 watches below cost as much as a custom cue. By comparison, the last watch is like a cue from Walmart. Expensive chronometers only do one thing….keep time. Custom cues do one thing…..hit pool balls, just as intended. What you pay for a watch has little to do with anything other than...
