    Brunswick Convertible?

Mr. Bond: I'll have him look for some kind of mark on the steel framework. Thanks!

    Naming the pockets

As touched on above, when playing Golf the pockets are numbered 1-6. The right pocket in the kitchen is #1, and the numbers go around clockwise. It definitely makes discussing a game easier to envision.

    Brunswick Convertible?

Very good info, thanks. If you run across the other steel table name, that would be cool.

    Brunswick Convertible?

Ok, I heard back from my friend. The only info he has is that the table is a Vestal made by Brunswick-Balke-Collender. I'm assuming Vestal is the model name? With the exception of the dark brown wooden rails, all the main framework is steel. The legs and skirting are just painted to look like...

    Brunswick Convertible?

Unfortunately, no, just the pool table rails. But, given the desire, know-how, and resources, someone could make billiard rails and snooker rails.

    Brunswick Convertible?

I'm waiting to here back from him about some misc info about the table (year, model, markings underneath, etc.) I'll ask him those specific questions.

MPI or XTC softest ferrule material?

I've used MPI and, obviously, it's soft. Never used XTC, so I can't give a comparison. However, XTC is the *only* ferrule material sold on Atlas and Cue Comp that warns using hydrocarbon-based solvents when machining may cause the material to break down. That makes it sound pretty dang soft to me.

    Should Pro Tournaments Be Seeded?

IMHO, the only valid point I've heard in favor of seeding is the comparison to televised golf and tennis. Yes, the people watching on tv (or ppv or live steaming) tend to watch the last few matches more than the entire tournament. If the final competitors are big names, the number of viewers...

    Brunswick Convertible?

(I first posted this in Talk to a Table Mechanic, but figured the Main Forum couldn't hurt either.) A friend just bought an old Brunswick pool table on Craigslist. He thought he was buying a 9-footer. Once he got there, he discovered it's a 10-footer. He was disappointed because it's not what...

    Brunswick Convertible?

A friend just bought an old Brunswick pool table on Craigslist. He thought he was buying a 9-footer. Once he got there, he discovered it's a 10-footer. He was disappointed because it's not what he wanted, but it was a good price and a long drive, so he figured he'd load it up and bring it home...

    Predator BK warped

According to the Predator web page, the BK2 butt is "4 piece - rear weighted". No clue if that means 4 piece radially laminated, although I kinda remember hearing the BK butts were radially laminated, but I can't say so with authority. I'm sure someone hear on AZ knows for sure. As far as the...

    Pet Peeve

Slop in pool is just like sucking out on the river. It happens occasionally, but in the vast majority of the times the better player wins. Whether or not someone makes a big deal about slopping a ball in during a pool game or sucking out on the river says a lot about themselves in real life. So...

    Should Pro Tournaments Be Seeded?

No, I disagree with seeding. Seeding is favoritism toward the top players. That's all it is. There's nothing else you can possibly say to change that fact. Do the better players "deserve" more because they've put in their time. Maybe, kinda, sort of, but just on a tiny level. The fact is, if...

    New Chalk from Predator

At $2 per "cube", I might actually try it. Is it just a coincidence that the sum of the internal angles of an octagon is 1080 degrees?

How to count inlays...determining the "Level" of cue

As stated above, personal opinions differ. That said, my personal opinion on inlays is this: Every individual piece that is cut and glued into a matching hole is an inlay, with the exception of billet-made ring work (See picture from Prather website - No, I'm not making any comments whatsoever...

    Juma Ferrule Chalk resistant?

To my knowledge, Juma ferrules are no different than other ferrules, as far as polishing them goes. I use cue wax and/or bee's wax to polish plastic ferrules and burnish the sides of tips, and it's always worked great for me. Perhaps there are other better polishing products out there. Is your...

    Juma Ferrule Chalk resistant?

I could be totally wrong, but I'd assume when someone says Juma is "chalk resistant", they mean chalk won't stain the plastic, not that it will repel chalk like a force field. Depending how a player chalks the tip, some amount of chalk is going to land on the ferrule. Every ferrule has to be...

Or, clean out the brass shaft insert with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

    Thread Tap

If it's a Uniloc Quick Release pin, your problem could just be the smooth pin that inserts into the shaft before the screw threads catch. Sometimes some gunk (technical term) builds up on the smooth pin. Take a small piece of 400 grit sandpaper and give the smooth part of the pin a few twists...

    Meucci Finish removal from wrap

I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat! Most linen wraps are glued on with just plain old white Elmer's glue, so I'm surprised the paint remover didn't eat through that. I humbly stand corrected.
