    Cue Weight

I went to college with a guy that played with a 24 ounce cue. He was a strong player, and was actually a small, skinny guy. Always struck me odd how such a small guy could play well with a tree trunk. I knew another guy that played with a 15 oz. Personal preference.

    weight bolts

I believe it was Homer Simpson that said, "Mmmmmm... Fudge." :) I personally don't like the feel of a cue that has a bunch of weight in the ass end. I prefer the weight distributed along the length of the cue. So, before building the cue, I figure out what the cue will weigh without the weight...

A Closer look at L.D. Shafts

Duckie, This may not be full-blown scientific testing, but I think this is an interesting product testing venture. Nobody else has tried something on this magnitude since the Meucci Black Dot vs. Predator 314 days. Hopefully some really good data will be gathered and some questions will be...

    Pool Manners II

Ok, fair enough. I was just wondering if you were being hypocritical, but now understand that you weren't. This is just a matter of opinion. Some feel it's right to inform the player. Some think it's their own fault for not paying attention. By the way, Celophanewrap is a "she", and she is...

    Pool Manners II

How can ask "is that the way you want to win?", when you admit that you "tell my opponent if they are shooting the wrong ball MOST of the time"? So, every now and then when YOU don't tell your opponent they're shooting the wrong ball, it's okay. But when Celophanewrap does it once, it's wrong?

A Closer look at L.D. Shafts

Very interesting, and I can't wait to see more. I REALLY can't wait to see the tests with different chalks. Maybe we'll finally have some scientific evidence whether or not a $30 cube of chalk is truly better or complete hokum.

    What would you do?

First off, I don't know whether or not the specific group of people being discussed was from a foreign country or not. My posts have been based on the generic stance that when people move to a foreign country they have to have *some* responsibility to incorporate themselves into the culture of...

    BEM needed

As per forum rules, we're not supposed to divulge supplier's names publicly. Someone might send you a PM with the info you're looking for. However, cue makers can be pretty secretive when they find a great wood supplier. My suggestion is do a search of past forum threads. You'll probably pick...

    What would you do?

So because they are unaware what they are doing is wrong, and because they are from a different culture, they somehow get a "free pass" from being told what "normal" behavior in this country is? Not only that, Pidge is supposed to go OUT OF HIS WAY to not offend them? Wouldn't that technically...

    What would you do?

I have no problem with people from different cultures believing in different things, or living differently, or having different rules of behavior. Neither do I have a problem with people from a foreign country moving to America, yet wanting to retain their homeland beliefs. But why is it always...

What do you do when the CB is bigger than the OB's?

Standard pool balls are 2.25". Over-sized cue balls are 2.375". So, dividing 2.25 by 2.375 equals 0.9474. So, in order to properly compensate for the difference in size, whatever you would normally do, only do 94.74% of that. Ha! I'm kidding. :D You said it exactly right: Stay closer to the...

    Money game/gambling "etiquette" and advice

I would highly doubt there's a poolroom owner out there that doesn't realize there's gambling going on in their place and/or isn't ok with it. As long as you're not running a million dollar long con on someone, I'm sure a little action will be ok. But, to be polite, you should try to get the...

Non forfeit at White Diamonds - Whats up with that!!!

You're definitely right, huge calcuttas make for great entertainment. If the calcutta dies off, the tournament will probably die off, too. And that would be a shame. But I think a very important fact is getting forgotten here: this whole mess is due to one guy missing his match. Maybe it's just...

Non forfeit at White Diamonds - Whats up with that!!!

You're forgetting one very important detail. Horses can only be scratched from a race BEFORE the race begins. Once the bell goes off and the gates open, the race is on and no horse can be scratched. If a horse breaks his leg before the first turn, you can get a refund? But coming up lame going...

    Pool Manners II

If she were a friend of mine and came up to me right after the match, explained the situation, and began complaining about you, I'd say, "Wait just a minute... Let me get this straight... *You* shot the wrong ball, but somehow it's *her* fault for not telling you? And that makes her an...

    Help,need a new tip

I, too, have been a Moori guy for a long time. I have tried almost every tip on the market on my personal cue and haven't found a single tip that's made me say, "Wow! That's way better than a Moori!" However, many have been just as good or very close. I haven't run into a single bad Moori tip...

As with all artists, you're being overly critical of your own work. Leave the logos alone. They look great!

Non forfeit at White Diamonds - Whats up with that!!!

The pool room owner is late to his match, gets forfeited due to *his own actions*, and then cancels the future event at his place because his being forfeited was "unfair"?!? I thought only little kids "took their ball and went home". :) It's too bad Mike was punished by losing an event, but...
