There is a thread on the main forum about the importance of 3-rail shots to escape snookers in 9-ball. Yet I've noticed that in snooker 2 rail escapes tend to be used more. Can anyone explain why that would be?

Interesting that snooker players seem much more likely to use 2-rail kicks to escape snookers than 3-railers. Any snooker players out there know why that is?

They must have changed the masking policy, because I watched some of Daniel Negraneau´s vlogs and the players are mixed, some masked some not masked.

I´m not a very good player, and for me personally the only system that has helped me make an extra point, here and there, is the Spot on the Wall system.

When I lived in CO there was a Korean room that had 1 10 footer with fast 3C style cloth and about 4 8-footers with slower cloth that were used primarily for 4 ball billiards. Straight rail would be fine on an 8 footer. Balkline would also work fine, once you figured out the proportional...

The problems with that theory are 1) changing rails takes significant efforts, and 2) there is no cloth that is suitable for all three disciplines.

You can find pool tables to play on anywhere, but carom tables are much more scarce, so I think carom is the way to go.

Just making balls is not the whole game in snooker, either. Maybe it is the pool fans that don't fully understand.

I kind of doubt whether any top US pool player would be able to win their first 3 matches in any top tier snooker event.
