    Grip Question

Whoa! That's a very intriguing premise. I'd love to read that study. I'm pretty sure I have a forward-balanced body. Most of my martial arts training when I was young stressed "rooting" exercises (relaxing and sinking into the balls of the feet). Decades later, I still have a very solid...

    Grip Question

My personal thoughts on the cue grip are that it should be along the lines of a single gimbal. The cue pivots freely when it is just touching at two points on either side of the cue. Ideally, these points would be on the inside of the thumb and the index finger. Dennis Orcullo holds his cue...

    The stroke slip .

These are one and the same thing. The arm does the work on the cue, but it's the cue that does the work on the ball.

    The stroke slip .

That's an excellent point. Maybe we shouldn't call it anything at all. I can see the potential for confusion arising when someone hears about it and thinks they have to actively loosen their grip mid-stroke... a sure recipe for disaster. There seems to be an increasing desire to put a label...

    Grip Question

I grip the cue pretty much like Ronnie does, with the feeling of the cue resting on my middle finger and maybe a little bit on my ring finger. I don't consciously try to raise my index finger up and away from the cue, but I have done that just for giggles with no apparent ill effect on my...

    The stroke slip .

Is there another way to do it? FWIW the cue slips in my grip hand on almost every stroke I take, sometimes just a little, sometimes a whole lot. I make no attempt to do this, it's just a natural consequence of a very loose and supple grip plus the slick Irish linen wrap on my cue. If I try...

    Same Old Same Old

Well, the whole point of the curtain was to show that each unique CTE alignment leads to a pocket on the table. I'm not saying that users can or can't do this without using feel, but I can think of a real good way to modify the curtain setup to take the possibility of feel out of it. It would...

Anybody use VP on a tablet? I have it on my iPad mini and find cue speed hard to control. Also, how do you know how much spin you are putting on the CB?

    Shooting with one eye

I almost lost my right eye in a shop accident about 8 years ago. They were able to restore a lot of vision, but the injury left my right (dominant eye) pupil permanently wide open, so the lights create a lot of glare and make seeing difficult. I've taken to playing without my glasses to reduce...

The most impressive shot in the Mosconi Cup

Without a doubt the most impressive, but Shane's billiard on the winning 9 had to be the most exciting to watch. The hair on my arms is still standing up.

Who was commentating during the Mosconi Cup?

I hear you. Sure, it gets tedious at times, and they do make mistakes. Sometimes they can't see all the balls clearly, and they also have access each play very quickly, and have to make their comments at the correct time or they might lose the moment (especially with some of the fast and...

Who was commentating during the Mosconi Cup?

Maybe 1% of the viewing audience for a major event like this has even a small clue what a good break looks like, let alone how to even begin to run out a rack, play a good safe, what a kick is, what natural shape is, etc. Give these guys a break. Believe me, they all know a hell of a lot more...

I always end up scratching...please help!

Hey, I was first. Just forgot to add the little winky face after my post. I should win something, even if it's basically useless, like a set of Bonus Ball balls, or a case of burgundy Silver Cup chalk.

    "tightest mosconi table ever"

This has been discussed extensively on the table difficulty thread (it's in a sticky post at the top of the main forum). http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=324408 Bottom line is that when you narrow the pockets correctly, you also change the facing angles and shelf depth. The balls...

    90/90 And The SEE System

Yes, Stan made us all aware of that fact. I watched the match. You shoot good. It wasn't apparent to me what aiming system you were using in the video, but I am still in the beginning stages of learning CTE. I suspect you shot pretty good before CTE, though.
