Which one? Neutral racker, breaker racks, or loser racks?

I'm sure the man in the hat in this video would agree with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHQw9T5uvyk

Which one? Neutral racker, breaker racks, or loser racks?

Triangle rack, rack your own, 30 second rack clock, no touching of balls after rack is lifted. Three tries max. You either accept the third rack or forfeit the break.

    My way......

I don't think beginners should be allowed to try to pocket a ball until they have reached a point where they can consistently direct the CB exactly where they want it to go. Work on stance and stroke and the aiming will take care of itself when it comes time to learn pocketing. The angles...

Pivoting as a Means of Alignment Compensation

I guess some guys really like to put the "anal" in "analysis".

Yellowed balls- Is there a fix?

Here's a pic of my Centennials when I first got them. They were the first issue from Aramith (it just says "Made in Belgium" on the box) after Albany Billiard Ball lost the Brunswick account, so they were at least 20 years old when I got them. They came in a pristine box from a guy who had a...

Yellowed balls- Is there a fix?

A cue maker here posted pics of a yellowed CB that he had power buffered, and it was definitely a lot whiter in the area that he buffed. He also said that people who use old 9-balls as stick shift knobs have them bleach (or chemically change) whiter in the sun inside the car. Window glass...

Some Old Pool - Watch it Live Now

What a great idea! Thanks for taking the time to share like that. I hit your channel too late to see Cranfield, unfortunately. Never seen him stroke a ball. I did watch a bit if Crane-Balsis, but I passed out soon after I started watching. Three days of taking care of my grandkids plum wore me...

Yellowed balls- Is there a fix?

I bought a set of early Aramith Centennials that were new in the box (blue box). They were flawlessly shiny, but were yellowish instead of pure white. I've had them in play for a couple years now and they have lightened up a bit, but still are not white. Maybe I'll try the sunlight treatment.

    Dennis Orcullo - Bad Form

You must not be much of a fight fan if you expect them to send a guy out to get hit in the head after he's been KO'd. He's most likely already suffered a concussion, any further insults to the head could lead to permanent damage to the brain, or even dearth. Most great boxers have so much...

Let's talk about the measles ball

Man, that's pretty clever! Very revealing. Looks like what Baxter was describing happened to his ball. If wonder if his would look like that after the same treatment.

Let's talk about the measles ball

So, I just went down and used the Aramith cleaner on my blue circle CB. The pic on the left is the ball after I rubbed just a portion of the ball. You can see the circle of freshly cleaned surface just above the blue circle, contrasting with the rest of the disgustingly dirty ball (haven't...

Let's talk about the measles ball

That's nothing. I wish I took a photo of mine just a few days ago. It looked almost gray from so much dirt and chalk. Seemed to have lost it's ability to draw and follow easily as well. It hadn't been cleaned in weeks and I couldn't get all the gunk off it no matter how hard I rubbed with a...

Seriously, Do you like pool events on 7 foot table?

I LOVE watching the pros playing on 7' tables. Those little 2" balls and 1 7/8" CB are a perfect match for those tight snooker-cut pockets and nappy cloth. And those red and yellow object balls are fun and make it easy to see the layout the player has to deal with. Oh, wait... You mean...

would B vitamins help with pool?

Ensure has lots of sugar and high fructose corn syrup in it. People with Lyme should stay away from sugar, especially fructose. In fact, everybody should stay away from fructose. A little fructose from fruit is fine, but too much leads to fatty liver disease over time, even if you are skinny...

Why don't cuemakers do this? More to the point why don't we let them?

With your background you'll be a natural at it. Forging knives is tons of fun and you have way more artistic freedom than you have with cues. I gotta get back into it soon. I have three nice anvils, a charcoal forge I made myself, and tons of tool steel. I have a couple pieces of Damascus that...

Why don't cuemakers do this? More to the point why don't we let them?

Who would want a knife made with low-grade steel??? At least a crappy cue will still poke a ball in a hole. A knife that won't take and hold a good edge is less than useless.

would B vitamins help with pool?

Ha, ha! I've had Lyme three times and none of them were anywhere as much fun to get as your dose was. Did you have a high fever (104º+) and terrible headache and stiff neck when you got it? Did you get Bell's Palsy as well? If so, chances are it got inside your nervous system (Lyme...

would B vitamins help with pool?

A guy I went to school with used to inject himself with B6 about an hour before an exam. He said it had to be the injectable form, and that it helped glucose cross the blood-brain barrier better, which increased alertness and focus as a result. He was a curve buster for sure, and graduated with...

Why don't cuemakers do this? More to the point why don't we let them?

Some, not all. Lots of guys making performance knives. The American Bladesmith Society has a rigorous testing protocol for prospective members. The knife you submit for your journeyman acceptance has to be basically destroyed by the tests, yet still be functional both in durability and in...
