    14.1 scoring systems

Kinda funny I'm old enough to have learned to score with beads - because that's all there was. As an adult, there are few places with beads and a lot of tables with numeric counters. So when my kids learned to play 14.1, they learned with counters. As a result, they can't quite figure out how...

    Shaft aiming

Really pretty straightforward. Here's a link that includes this technique. I haven't seen where anyone discusses its limitations. https://www.pooldawg.com/article/pooldawg-library/what-the-fck-are-you-looking-at-a-guide-to-aim

    1P rules question

Never saw this before today... Players are down to the last ball. Player intentionally double hits the cue ball, makes the hanger in his opponent's pocket and re-spots it with one of his own. Play continues with cue ball in place. Could this play be unsportsmanlike conduct resulting in loss...

    Predator or Molinari CUES?

I asked this recently, but didn't specify cues. The replies had to do with gloves. Trying again. What are the differences between the two lines? Why would you choose one over the other?

    Guilty as charged.

    Bank Pool

How does that work? Is a two rail bank worth the same a two one rail banks?

    Pros don't know the rules

I recall having a (now deceased) pro tell me that the entire object ball had to be out of the kitchen in order to shoot at it after a scratch in one pocket. This particular player had won a 1P tournament that was billed as the US Open One Pocket and it was several years after the rules were...

The most useless yet highly discussed stat in pool

Of course, this means that Mosconi's 526 is nothing either.

    Pros don't know the rules

Is it too much to ask that you should be familiar with the rules before you play in a tournament? They are spending (at least) hundreds to go to and enter the tournament - probably more. They stand to win thousands, but they can't be troubled to familiarize themselves with the rules beforehand...

    System for Z kicks/banks?

Is there a system for these two rail kicks/banks?

    American straight pool championship

It's not like I'm qualified to critique a 100 and out run from the break, but... There were a few times he moved balls unnecessarily. I saw him in the DCC 14.1 challenge two years ago and it was apparent he didn't know the rules of the game. Quite a remarkable advance since then.

    American straight pool championship

I don't have a problem with it. The venue is really nice and the hosting pool room doesn't have to give up their (presumably) lucrative evening leagues in order to host the tournament. I haven't heard any of the participants complaining about the scheduling. What's wrong with that?

    American straight pool championship

I'm afraid it's true and they did the same thing last year. Don't know about before that. The tourney is scheduled before 6:00PM on Tuesday through Thursday. They go late on Friday when there are no leagues and they finish Saturday afternoon.

    Low cost radial pin cue

Schmelke Seems like every time the question comes up about quality at a good price, Schmelke comes up. Here's an example: http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/schmelke/schmelke_r40-birdseye.htm

How does Jayson make this shot?

I'm skeptical.. Is there a way to measure how much spin can be transferred from the CB to the OB? It doesn't seem to me that anyone could transfer very much spin from one ball to another. But maybe it doesn't take very much to help the OB go in.

    Poolology calculator tool

Very useful! Here's an additional idea: Don't know how difficult this would be to implement, but... Have you seen how the Break Speed app allows the user to tell the app where he has placed the cue ball for the break? A similar technique could allow the Poolology user to show the locations of...

They Finally Made a Pool Table-Computer

Cool tool! I can't help wondering why a dedicated computer is necessary. Seems like any common PC should be able to do the job. If this becomes popular, that may be the next development - just to help get the cost down.
