US Open 10 ball & 8 ball is Back!

Pool The only recent positive I can think of for big table pool is DCC. This years events had more players in each event than the past few years and the Bigfoot event on 5 x 10' tables has become very popular. Greg Sullivan is always thinking and working to make this event bigger and better...

    Hard Times Sacramento Memorial Tournament

No thanks. I don't think you can win even, but that is a little strong for me anymore. You are improving and I am sliding down the ladder at 75 years old. A race to eight is a little long for me too, especially since the action games are after the tournament is over. 8/7 race to 5 is a good...

    Hard Times Sacramento Memorial Tournament

The Chuck Markulis Memorial Tournament starts tomorrow with one pocket and the nine ball starts on Thursday. Corey Deuel won the one pocket last year and Justin Bergman won the nine ball. Usually some action to sweat after the matches. Last year Corey fired the $1,700 1st place $$ at SVB in ten...

Derby City Photos -- a few to ID

The first pic is Evan Lunda, a young player out of Detroit. He beat me a couple years ago in the one pocket. His dad told me he used to hide in the car when he knew dad was going to the pool room and knew his dad would not turn around and take him home and he would get to play some.

Who is coming to the US bar table and want to match up ??

Action Next Weds is the Markulis Memorial at Hard Times in Sacramento. 2k added to the one pocket and 5k added to the 9ball. Played on 4 1/2 x 9 Gold Crowns with 4.25" pockets and new tournament blue Simonis cloth. Lots of champions show up and then go to Reno and there will be some action.

    Accolades for Warren Kiamco

Warren Kiamco Story I first met Warren in the 90's when I was working with Cue Sports Journal and running some 9 ball tournaments for new pool rooms in the East Bay. Warren used an alias at first if my memory serves me. Anyway, I played him in a couple tournaments and he won a nice tournament I...

Cue extender used in the joint

Extension I tried the BalanceRite and liked it, but it made my cue a little too long and heavy, adding 2oz. I now use a 2 1/2" I got from newsherrifintown on here and love it. Weighs 1oz and just the right length for me. I am an older player and my mechanics get messed up from time to time. I...

    One-Foul vs. Two-Foul

Push Out It seems to me you think the players would be on offense more with push out. I disagree. The advantage of playing push out is to exploit your strengths over the other players weaknesses. If I think I bank better than you, I push out on a tough shot for a bank shot or any shot I think...

    One pocket Players - Cloth

I agree. I played on an older Diamond that King Cobra had rebuilt at Lo Down in Chico, Ca and it was the best one pocket table in Northern CA. I am an older player who lost his power stroke a long time ago and prefer this faster cloth.

C.J. Wiley VS Keith McCready - What's The Line?

Around 1990 I played Mike in a 9 ball tournament at the Jointed Cue in Sacramento. I drew Mike in the first round and he beat me. I won several matches on the losers side and met him again near rhe end of the tournament. I beat him this time and turned around to shake his hand and he was gone...

    Action one pocket match controversary

I am not going to say anything unless it looks like you are going to shoot that ball or if you go look at it. I don't recall being in any arguments about a froze ball for a long time, and I still gamble and play in tournaments fairly often. I accept the responsibility of making sure my opponent...

    Action one pocket match controversary

The ball is not considered frozen until one of the players call it frozen prior to the shot. Even if I called it frozen on a prior shot, if I let you shoot the same ball without checking, it is not frozen and my bad. As Lou said, a simple 'Still Frozen' works.

Real King Cobra - Give Credit Where Credit is Due

I played on an older Diamond table last week at Down Lo Billiards in Chico, Ca that Glenn did his thing on. I usually play on Gold Crowns at Hard Times in Sacramento, but I have to say this is the best table in Northern CA to play one pocket on.

Patrick Gates from Elmhurst, IL/Red Bank, NJ

A good lesson to be learned, even if you start off cheap, pay off after every game with a stranger. You could have gotten his $1,200 and lots more sleep.:boring2: I used to lose the first game on purpose to pay off and establish how we were going to handle it.

    The West Coast Mezz Tour

Good job Jay, we always feel good when cashing against the 'Big Boys'. Now I will have to stay away from you in nine ball and banks. I played in the ten ball tournament they had at Hard Times Sacramento. I believe the better numbers for players showing up comes in the nine ball tournaments. I...

    The West Coast Mezz Tour

I played in a few tournaments at Dee Hulse's place in Redwood City when I first came up here in the early 80's. I think it was called Executive Billiards. Also had a bit of one pocket action in there with Tony Boles. Dee had a Gold Crown that was as tight as any table around today. Lots of good...
