I have this very same set-up with a 1st gen Predator-Z, though I also enjoy swapping to a 314 or original Schon shaft every so often.

My current Gilbert drew much inspiration from that Gus. :)

I've also noticed some cue brands like Cuelees doing the same. 1st time I saw this done was with an older Dennis Searing merry widow. I always wondered how he lined up the joint rings so well lol.

Might have to look at a low end CF mass produced cue at that price point. Rhino Cues and JFlowers maybe?

My Schon shafts definitely use ivory ferrules, but I'm a light weight when it comes to breaking :D

I break with my 2005 Schon no prob :D Even back in the 80's, I remember one guy at my local pool hall breaking with his Schon all the time.

Older Schons used real elephant ivory, so yeah, do not send to the US if the white material has the signature Schreger lines.

I wasn't a big fan of malachite in cue sticks. Then I saw the Schon CX-61 in my sig and could not hold off on pulling the trigger.

All of these cues are still quite stunning, no changes necessary!

Love that BEM forearm, and those points look sweet! When I had my 2005 Gilbert made, he suggested going with an ivory joint and butt cap, but I asked him to go stainless steel and delrin cap since I preferred more durable materials at those locations. All other inlays were the good stuff. 20...
