Southwest cues - reasons for their popularity

Timex quarts actually has better accuracy than Rolex and other mechanical watches, but I still gravitate towards good mechanicals because of their sweeping second hand and automatic winding, so no batteries needed, ever... just occasional servicing every 5+ years to keep them in top shape. I...

    Refinish effect on cue value.

I've already had my Gilbert playing cue refinished by Andy within the first year of delivery due to bubbles that popped up under the ring work. Since the cue had a bunch of scrimmed ivory, it couldn't really be shaved down, and the black embossed gator wrap also had to be replaced. Andy...

    Mcworter or Owens

Bob Owen is quite active in these forums and posts his works regularly in the Cue and Case Gallery section. All of them are well executed.

OMG, my CX61 is actually pictured in that Schon models photo!

    Andrew your cue is finished...

...and another one gets knocked out of the park! I'm a big fan of these Szamboti style inlay cues. :D

    What shaft?

I have this very same set-up with a 1st gen Predator-Z, though I also enjoy swapping to a 314 or original Schon shaft every so often.

    Gus Szamboti cues picture thread...

My current Gilbert drew much inspiration from that Gus. :)

    Rings on the joint

I've also noticed some cue brands like Cuelees doing the same. 1st time I saw this done was with an older Dennis Searing merry widow. I always wondered how he lined up the joint rings so well lol.

Looking for a cue maker that will make a plain jane or merry widow cue for 300$

Might have to look at a low end CF mass produced cue at that price point. Rhino Cues and JFlowers maybe?

How many days would you allow a seller to give you the run around, with not shipping, before filing a paypal complaint?

I had to deal with this twice so far... once for a MTG card that the guy was almost a month late shipping, while the other was with a Canadian light-saber maker who ended up failing to deliver a bunch of orders to past customers. I did get finally my order from the latter after 1 month, but...

    Schon, what do you think?

My Schon shafts definitely use ivory ferrules, but I'm a light weight when it comes to breaking :D

    Schon, what do you think?

I break with my 2005 Schon no prob :D Even back in the 80's, I remember one guy at my local pool hall breaking with his Schon all the time.

    Schon, what do you think?

Older Schons used real elephant ivory, so yeah, do not send to the US if the white material has the signature Schreger lines.

Pool cue components or styles that you are not a fan of.

I wasn't a big fan of malachite in cue sticks. Then I saw the Schon CX-61 in my sig and could not hold off on pulling the trigger.

    Four Barry Szamboti cues

All of these cues are still quite stunning, no changes necessary!

Finished this one today. For a customer.

I'm a big fan of peacock inlays, but this one easily stands out above the crowd! Love that bottom sleeve as well! (y)

    New Andy Gilbert Cue

Love that BEM forearm, and those points look sweet! When I had my 2005 Gilbert made, he suggested going with an ivory joint and butt cap, but I asked him to go stainless steel and delrin cap since I preferred more durable materials at those locations. All other inlays were the good stuff. 20...
