Who are your top three favorite pro players?

I hope this is okay here. I’m new so go easy on me lol :p Okay, me: Shane VanBoening. How can you not love the guy? Ko Ping-Chung. Loved to watch him shoot before he recently won the 10 ball tourney. Earl Strickland. The Pearl. Love to watch him dance around the table, a bumble-bee in perfect...

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Oh, I broke down and spent some $ on the book “Poolology - Mastering the Art of Aiming,” by Brian Crist. I saw a video on YouTube about it and it looked pretty solid and down-to-earth, plus it got good reviews on Amazon. I’m sure y’all are familiar with this. lol Anyway I know y’all aren’t...

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

That’s on my radar for sure! I’m wondering if Tor’s material is too advanced for a newbie? I’m talking like building my game from the ground up as if I’d never held a cue. Not looking to go pro but I adore the game and want to be decent at it :)

That’s a fabulous idea! I will do exactly that, then compare as best I can to Briesath, other pros I like, etc.! You da man.

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Thank you! My problem is I’m not sure how tightly to hold it  I’ve read the ‘baby bird’ analogy, but it’s hard to relate to that. Then I’ve read where you’re supposed to essentially hold it so lightly that you let the cue do its thing without dropping it, but when I try that it feels...

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into it. We’re going through Briesath’s DVDs and we’ve got our hands full, no question about it :) It’s silly probably, but I still can’t seem to find what I feel is the ‘correct’ grip on my cue... I may put up a thread and ask if I exhaust...

Thank you! And that’s a small pet peeve of mine; I normally read the entire thread before posting and I always try to come back and give kudos :-)

    Barretta vs Crow

I watched the first game of the set. If I’m not mistaken she had a break and run in the first game? I’ve got it in my watch history to go back and finish. Anyway with her stroke I don’t see a lot of little ‘practice’ back-and-forth cue movement. It’s more like a “pinball” stroke. Aim, pull...

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Thank you all :-) I bought the Jerry Briesath 3 DVD set. Looking forward to it! Depending, I may buy the “Teach Me Pool 101 & 202” set, as my youngest son is learning along with me and I’ll want something for him that goes at a slow and easy pace. Regardless, I’m confident that I couldn’t have...

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Oh, I meant to mention DVD or download and watch, like Tor Lowry’s material. But keep in mind I need something for a noobie :-)

If you had ~$60 for one ‘beginner’ DVD...

Hello all, Like the title says: I’ve got right at $60, and am looking for one good instructional video (DVD) for a beginner. I’ll eventually build a library but right now I’m looking for a single source to get started. I prefer a video because I want to see what’s going on rather than read...

Another cue question: Viking or Cuetec?

Wound up with a Poison Arsenic 3 1. The design appeals to my ‘minimalist’ nature, plus I’m used to house/bar cues so I’m used to plain wood grip. I’m by no means a pro but so far I love it. Anyway thanks for responding. I know y’all get tired of threads like this

    I'm a fool/revelations

Hi Evergruven, I’m an amateur so pardon me if my question is dumb. What I’m getting is that you’re literally hitting the CB with your cue in the center. However, are you using any draw, follow, stun, or just allowing natural roll-off tangent? Thanks!

Another cue question: Viking or Cuetec?

Ahh! Thank you. I can go $28 over for a quality cue w/LD. I went to Seybert’s - looks like a great site. I see you can get a name engraved, etc. Very nice. :)

Another cue question: Viking or Cuetec?

Thanks for the advice. I’d love that, but if I spent that much, the Mrs. would be very unhappy. Which of course means I’d be very unhappy. I’m not terribly far from Kincaid Billiards in Middle TN, so I suppose I’ll take a day and drive up there and knock some balls around with various cues in...

Another cue question: Viking or Cuetec?

Hello, new to forum but have lurked for quite a while. Have played pool on and off for years. Never been good to speak of, but I absolutely love the game. I’m finally getting a table at home (8’ (9’ won’t fit)). Anyway, I’m looking for a decent cue I can call my own for around $300-$350. Am...
