If a gun was put to your head to choose one player to pocket a difficult shot for you, who would you choose?

why would O'Sullivan or any other top snooker player pursue pool when they make so much more money playing snooker? Snooker players seem to have any easier time adjusting to pool rather than the other way around.

Sad day in the pool world - Mika Immonen 1972 * 2025

This one really stings- Mika was such a fierce competitor. He had such a passion for life- shame he died so young. I know his competitive side rubbed some people the wrong way, but many of us can relate to behaving differently in competition. He was very friendly off the table and actually...

    Mental game poll

I've found that I play best if I stay focused on each shot, not so much the outcome of the game or match. My game tends to fall apart when I get distracted. I have to stay focused on the table only- not other people at the bar, other players on other tables, or people singing karaoke, etc.

    Dennis Orcollo wears glasses

I understand the need for glasses with age related eyesight decline, but what's up with the funny toupee hat?

Jeanette Lee coming up in the 8 o’clock hour of CBS morning show 8/27

I guess I took it the wrong way. I'm happy pool is getting any coverage in the mainstream media, but I thought it was phrased in a way that made it seem like pool wasn't worth watching generally.

Jeanette Lee coming up in the 8 o’clock hour of CBS morning show 8/27

He said that she was the only reason to watch pool

Jeanette Lee coming up in the 8 o’clock hour of CBS morning show 8/27

I just saw the clip- pretty interesting- she didn't mention her bout with cancer, but instead focused on her struggles with scoliosis. On a side note Nate Burleson is a bit annoying in this clip as he is somewhat condescending about pool:

Matchroom/U.S. Open is leaving Atlantic City

I hope they move it back to Vegas as I might be able to attend the event. Was there a specific reason they moved it out of Vegas?

    Softbreak ?

I didn't realize it was that widespread- perhaps with the 9 ball racked on the spot it wouldn't happen as frequently. I know that Match Room is totally opposed to 10 ball, but perhaps that would be partial solution. I also know that guys have perfected the 10 ball break, but they usually don't...

    Softbreak ?

I don't think the majority of the pros would do it because it is hard to get to Corey's level of accuracy with that break and even he may struggle to get out with the racks it produces as often the balls are relatively clustered. All went well for him in 2001 with that break, but he wasn't...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

true, but that was almost 20 years ago and they played 8 ball- less need to move the cue ball

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

These tournaments were great- the break wasn't as cookie cutter as it is now, you had a to have a great stroke due to the slow cloth, and guys took more risky shots because of the bigger pockets. In fact, I'd love for them to recreate these tournament conditions to see how the current pros would...

    US Open 08/18-23

I think Gorst was sharking Michael- he wasn't breaking that soft. It's too subjective anyway- either have the 3 point rule or let people break at whatever speed they want.

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

In his prime, Corey would likely be a 805-810 player. It wasn't just 2001, he was a threat to win any tournament he entered for about a 15 year time frame. He was a top 5 American player during that time and probably top 30 in the world. In the past 10 years he has declined- likely due to age...

    Bergman v. Josh O'Neal Cancelled

I thought they both stated the intention to return to playing full time- perhaps both thought better of it considering how strong some of these fields are- so many players 800 fargo rate or above

    Bergman v. Josh O'Neal Cancelled

on a different note, I thought Bergman and Dechaine decided to return to playing pool full time. I see Bergman plays all of the Ultimate 8 ball tournaments and Dechaine entered one too, but both are conspicuously absent from the US Open field.

Why are there so few black pro players..?

I was a kid in the late 70s and 80s and there were actually a lot more American black baseball players back then. There are many black players in the mlb now but most are from the Dominican Republic

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

Corey still has his moments, but it seems like he is somewhat of a bar table specialist now. He really excels at bar table 8 ball. He doesn't seem to enter that many 9 foot table tournaments any more.

    Slow play by pros

The fast paced play of the ultimate 8 ball tournaments is one of the main reasons why I enjoy watching. I also enjoy watching pros play bar table 8 ball as that is the main game I play- it fun to watch them navigate breakouts under time constraint

    Slow play by pros

Something definitely needs to be done as it is very off putting. Basically becomes unwatchable. Apparently golf has the same problem. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/06/28/slow-play-pga-tour-lpga-tour/
