    Cue ID please Tad?

Update from Fred on refinish time. He says the cost is approx 350 for refinish and rewrap plus shipping with a turnaround of 2-3 months currently.

    Cue ID please Tad?

Thanks, I'd be interested to see some other examples of the bumper section on non serials. The example above really matches well in the details of construction.

    Cue ID please Tad?

Received this from Fred, his words were "this looks like it could be a Tad". I'll take that as a yes based on the 2 I had and the 1970's example above and puts this at that era. Waiting on his reply about a refinish to decide if I will go that route.

    Cue ID please Tad?

Thanks for the help guys. I spoke with Fred a bit ago and emailed pics. The pic above is the same ringwork for sure but different joint, that's not surprising given how many they used. The butt end is the same as one I had last year with the simple screw but that one had a serial number. I'll...

    Southwest type cue

SW still does everything exactly the same. I believe it is david kershenbrocks nephew running the shop now. I was there about 2 years ago and sat with laurie getting a sw authenticated. I was fortunate to buy my first sw from jerry back in the 80's very cool guy RIP.

    Box Cue Makers any recommendations

Well I'll throw in Bob Owen since no one else is saying it. 😉 but seriously Bob is the man right now and his turn around time is very good. My brother talked me out of my last Owen right after Bob refinished it. Amazing work and low cost.

    Tipping on table time?

no I would never tip on table time, the table isn't providing anything beyond its intended purpose. Personalized service gets tipped nothing else. I worked in the bicycle industry for years and we never had a tip jar, never even considered it, we did get tips occasionally but never begged for...

Moving my shop... Thanks Chris Hightower!

I bought a lathe from chris back in 1998 I think. I used it for several years. Great lathe.

WHY are some cue makers so valuable and others (better in quality) NOT so valuable?

It is just a matter of perception. The more consumers that perceive a maker as desirable then that maker appreciates in value. This can be manipulated so buyers should pay attention to be certain the maker exceeds their expectations to preserve the perception. Personally I think AE has exceeded...

what's the best cue you ever hit with, and why?

So true. The best player I ever knew Bruce Campbell RIP would win using a chalked up broom stick, not kidding. He said your best game is played with a consistently chalked and shaped tip.

CNC machines or all by hand. Which is best? What is the cues value?

    Hand assembled machined parts.

what's the best cue you ever hit with, and why?

Always subjective to the user. I prefer the feel and hit of Southwest although my current AE plays like a dream.

    Custom Cue Design Preferences

A sneaky should be a 4 point no veneers and a wood joint no collar. Should look like a house cue at first glance. I like 6 point like SW or my current fav AE one of the most precise makers out there amazing work.
