    It really happened!

I once made 7 9-ball breaks in a row in a race to 2 tournament. This was against 4 different players (rackers), so luck has a lot to do with it.

    Help me decide

I would get the LD shaft and learn to play with it. As a new player it you need to get a good stick and feel comfortable with it. I would get the OB or 314 shaft, Play with house balls, break with a house cue (or buy a cheap light weight stick with big shaft and add a hard break tip).

CIT and Cue Ball Deflection - Gearing English

I tried using gearing english per Dr. Dave's HAP DVD and could not make a ball. HA HA. Time to go back to playing with feel, not science... I know the science probably works well, but I find myself thinking too much. I have a favorite saying "Think Long, Think Wrong" which applies to my...

What to do to get out of a slump?

This has been a very good discussion and all the ideas are great. I play in several league teams and cannot take a week off (team needs me), but I do feel that would help...

What to do to get out of a slump?

I agree, It seems like the more I try to play my way out of a slump, the worse I get. I over-think things badly.

What to do to get out of a slump?

Everyone has them from time to time. I usually try to focus on fundamentals (Stance, Stroke, Bridge) and play my way out. Sometimes it takes me awhile to figure out what I am doing wrong that caused me to get in a slump. Last night I played a tournament and found myself shooting way too soft...

CIT and Cue Ball Deflection - Gearing English

Dale, that is the way I have always done it. I have been practicing some of the things on the Dr-Dave VEPPS DVD and HAPS DVD. They seem to suggest using what they call gearing english to compensate for CIT... http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/English.html#outside Is where he has info...

At what point is smoking bad for business?

This is what all pool halls need, a place where smoker can go so that the rest of us don't have to suffer because of their bad habit. Smokers kill us with their 2nd hand smoke, drunks kill us by driving with a buzz and don't get me started on what I think of drug users in public. My think is...

CIT and Cue Ball Deflection - Gearing English

Yes, that is what I am talking about. The cue ball deflects over a longer distance when you try to use gearing english. So trying to overcome CIT, you induce another problem. Also, one thing bugs me on Dr. Dave tapes is when he uses the back hand to get right and left english. Looks like...

CIT and Cue Ball Deflection - Gearing English

One thing that strikes me is trying to overcome Cut Initiated Throw (CIT) using a little outside English is that if I am at ghost ball spot, the cue ball deflection on longer cuts causes me to miss getting the cue ball into the ghost ball position. So is it really worth it to use gearing...

I always choose no smoking places. There are many places I won't go because I will smell like an ashtray afterwords.
