    Do you practice at home?

Just got a table recently and I play on it every day for varying amounts of time. Actually I only play on it on Thursdays when I have some people over and the rest of the days are for running drills or practicing breaks, etc. My game has much improved since the purchase.

    Who needs closed bridge anyway?

I aim more accurately with an open bridge seeing as how I can see down the entire length of the shaft, but if I need a good draw stroke then nothing beats a closed bridge for me whether it's a long shot or a short shot.

Well, that makes perfect sense then. We don't have those in my town but I have seen them in Topeka when I went to watch 9 ball matches. Thanks!

    Giving weight in 8 ball

I can't believe I didn't think of that. I could spot 2 or maybe 3 games in a race to 5 and I think that'd even it out. Just out of curiosity, even though I know what you meant, what does "on the wire" mean exactly? I tried to google for it and couldn't find the origins.

    Giving weight in 8 ball

OK, I'm new to all the gambling terminology but I'm learning a lot from this site. I just started playing some cheap sets. Last night I was out with a bunch of friends and we made a few friendly wagers. $10.00 was the max and everything was a race to 3. I won every set I played and then, of...

    Alabama (justin) ??????????????

gross Did he use his own cue ball? If not, I wouldn't have touched it or shot at it with my cue. That is impressive though...I've seen someone do it on TV.

The "new" 9-ball: Changing the game to reflect the new equipment

Most times you will see a player kick at it because that's the only way they can hope to play a safety back.

The "new" 9-ball: Changing the game to reflect the new equipment

Exactly. They may be able to jump at the ball but that doesn't mean they're going to make it...especially if they're jumping over a ball so close. It's still a good safety because even if they jump it, they are most likely going to miss and possibly leave you the run out. It's very hard to...

    legal jump shot technique

I just "analyzed" my stroke and it seems that I am hitting below center. What should I be doing with my bridge hand? Move it closer to the ball? Jack up less? more? See attached pic.

    legal jump shot technique

I might have to video tape myself doing it close up and above center to see what happens because when I do it, it just makes a loud bang and the ball squirts out from under my stick without getting any air.

Doesn't hitting above center trap the cue ball? I've seen some say to hit center and some say to hit a little below center but never have I heard above center.

    legal jump shot technique

By "Earl's right arm" you're saying that I'd really need to come down on the ball hard with a regular cue to jump on slate, correct? So I can join the gym or buy a jump/break cue. :)

    legal jump shot technique

Hello all - first post, I've just recently got a new table at home but it is an older FW table that I'm guessing has some sort of wooden surface...definitely not slate. I am able to jump on this table fairly easily. I just jack my stick up to 45 degrees and hit towards the center (or...
