old guys wearing hustlin usa gear?

How about "Meanderin' USA" or "Hobblin' USA" or "Limpin' USA". Actually I think if somebody came up with a takeoff on "Hustlin' USA" that was really funny I might buy one.

    Stroke Trainer (Cue Track)

I used it and thought it help me develop my stroke. It must have forced my elbow through an unnatural motion though, after a while I developed a soreness like tendinitis and had to stop using it. It did help when I used it. Was it worth the money? Probably, it didn't cost that much. Edit: I...

Wearing a suit while playing pool...

Scott your situation is the exception. When doing a show you are an entertainer, people have expectations and you are wise enough to meet those expectations. BTW, the highest salaries I have every earned were in software companies where a dress code was non-existence and frowned upon. In my...

Wearing a suit while playing pool...

They wore them because back then everybody wore suits everywhere that could be deemed even the least bit formal. People wore suits to ball games, to the movies, to go out to dinner, you name it. Every see any videos of old matches, everybody in the audience had suits on as well. How I don't...

old guys wearing hustlin usa gear?

I think it is stupid to see young people wearing Hustlin' USA gear. I've never worn what was "cool" even when I was young because it was usually a badge of who sells out to look "in". I would hope somebody older would have matured enough not to wear it, but it doesn't look any worse on an older...

You do have a way of doing this when I can't attend. :frown: July 18th is my 45th HS reunion, I guess that has to take precedence.

    Get a NEW BLACK BOAR...around $6,000

True that, but that isn't what people pay the high price tag for.

    Get a NEW BLACK BOAR...around $6,000

Yeah??? As far as I'm concerned what makes a Black Boar special is the intricate design work done as well by no one else. I don't see that here. JMHO.

    Smoking in Private Clubs

You don't really have much choice. They joined the club for cheap booze and the ability to smoke. They aren't going to adjust their behavior for you even if you had a dread disease. If it bother me that much I skip that week and not go. I've put up with some pretty smokey places. Usually those...

    Pocket reducers?

I had some, I don't think they are worth much. All you can practice with them is dead center shots. Shots down the rail are virtually impossible, not due to the width of the pocket, but due to the shape and material of the pocket reducers. There was a thread here years ago about replacing the...

Sure, go ahead, make me feel bad about another all-time great I never saw play. :(

No matter how well YOU play, your losing opponent says, "I played so bad!"

That reminds me of a story an old guy (even older than me ) in a room I go to told me. When he was young he was a very, very good 14.1 player and he played some guy from Europe who was some kind of champion 2 our of 3 races to 100. The other guy won the first and last to win the match...

No matter how well YOU play, your losing opponent says, "I played so bad!"

I think it is a natural reaction, we notice our own mistakes first. I think the fact that your opponent played well is implied by the fact that he won. Usually when I say "I played so badly" I'm not assuming I would have won if I didn't play badly. However, I would like to see the reaction of...

Does drinking hurt or help your game?

No choice for me, I haven't had a drink for about 20 years. However, when I did drink I'd say on average it hurt my game.

BCAPL: The Official Final Phenolic Tip Ruling

First of all it only effects BCAPL sanctioned events. Secondly, even if they could magically effect all pool games everywhere, what difference would it make as long as both players were required to use a leather tip. If I can't break as hard as another person with a leather tip, it pretty likely...

BCAPL: The Official Final Phenolic Tip Ruling

I don't know if they could or couldn't produce harder balls, but I think it a pretty good assumption that harder balls would play differently. Maybe we'd be very displeased with harder balls.

    First Scott Lee lesson

Lessons with Scott helped my game immensely. I took my first lesson with him about 6 months after my trip to Randy G's pool school. Randy paved the way and Scott smoothed it out after it settled in. Good luck with lesson.

    Handmade Leather Cue Cases

To the OP, welcome. Some unique cases there. John, I really like the concept of the "ring holder", but doesn't it force the top of the shoulder strap to far down the side of the case for a comfortable fit on the shoulder?

    Gandy Table...are they any good?

I liked the few I played on. The pocket shelf is pretty deep which makes pocketing the balls a little more challenging. They don't accept balls that are jarred very well.
