    Frankenstein tip/ferrule lathe

That's actually a really good idea.. We all have some shitty old screwdrivers hanging around.

    Frankenstein tip/ferrule lathe

I hate it when that happens. I need to start watching the post dates. Why don't they archive these super old threads? Sorry. I'm not sure why it showed up in the "new posts" list after five years of non-activity. Lock the posts after 90 days of inactivity and this problem stops. I'm...

Moving to Jacksonville, FL - need a table mechanic to install my Diamond and new cloth. Also looking for decent places to play, APA and otherwise.

I haven't tried that one yet. I did go to the Jax Beach one last Friday night and it was a ghost town. Probably 12 open tables out of about 20 at 9:30pm. on a Friday. Nice Diamond tables though but they had the LED rectangular lights that were so f'ing bright you almost needed sunglasses...

How do these diamond tables play so badly? vid

I for one am excited to get mine. I'll adjust to whatever bank conditions it presents just like we have to do on league nights when we move from table to table and from bar to bar.

Fingers crossed. I hope the daily rain and humidity don't become a bummer. I won't miss the Chicago winters, nor the taxes or crime, but we'll see. I have yet to find utopia in the US, everywhere has its pros and cons. I'm sure the Jacksonville area will be no different.

Moving to Jacksonville, FL - need a table mechanic to install my Diamond and new cloth. Also looking for decent places to play, APA and otherwise.

Finally got to connect in Florida. Went to 9-Ball Heaven last night and watched the Friday APA league stuff and a 10-ball tourney. Mixed feelings about the venue but there were some VERY talented shooters. I watched one guy win the lag and go 45 balls before he missed, only to lose in the...

Reconfiguring Your Game…Game Goes Down The Toilet?

You see the same thing in golf. Every time I seem to hit a plateau and get some coaching, I take several steps back, but over time, I reach a new high point. Sometimes it really does require throwing out what is wrong, but somehow manages to work, in order to fortify the foundation and reach...

    Carbon shafts

Wax is fine. Just FYI, I have had great results with nano-ceramic on CF shafts

i have an unknown insert shaft, possible to change?

Certainly possible to change it, but no way you fill a brass insert with something and then drill/tap that for something smaller. That would just be a really ugly end result. Have someone competent remove the insert, core it if necessary, and put in whatever new joint you want. Not rocket...

Possibilty to convert linen wrap to leather?

Absolutely possible and relatively common. I've done probably a dozen of these over the past 2 months. As DeeDeeCues mentions above, it becomes a PITA, but still doable, if the cue is warped. Leather thicknesses vary greatly so sometimes you need to cut a deeper wrap channel, sometimes you...

The best video of a Carbon Fiber shafts deflection testing with a robot arm

In my experience, there is actually quite a difference between some of the CF shafts in the way they feel, sound, and perform. I currently own Predator Revos, Meucci Carbon Pro, Mezz Ignite, and Jacoby Black and I've had a McDermott Defy in the past and I can tell you that they vary greatly...

The best video of a Carbon Fiber shafts deflection testing with a robot arm

I noticed that too, the center ball shots were hitting different spots on the target. I would think tip variances would also have some impact on the spin shots. A larger data set and having the same tips on all shafts might present a more reliable picture, or maybe it just confirms this small set.

There is a First Time for Everything-a surprise with my recent cue purchase Here

I didn't think I'd like the look with green/white linen but I really like it on that cue! Nice job.

    Black vs Clear epoxy

Yes, cocobolo, black phenolic, copper, copper, stiched phenolic, copper, copper, black phenolic, ebony. I doubled up on the copper because i couldn't find rings thicker than .031 and wanted thicker. I bought a copper plate to cut/turn some thick rings but decided to move that portion of my...

Meucci 97-21B, Black version, with Pro LD shaft and Pro CF shaft

Selling my Meucci 97-21B set in great condition, with two shafts. Butt, as currently weighted, is 29" and 15.2 oz. I can adjust this weight before shipping +/- an ounce or so. Shaft 1 is a Meucci "The Pro" low deflection wood shaft, 29", 12.5mm, 3.5oz, with a Kamui Black Clear SS tip on it...

    Black vs Clear epoxy

Sheldon, that part I didn't know. Good tip, thanks!! The forum is titled "Ask the Cuemaker", thus the question. I appreciate the feedback. Dave, agreed. For me, I have found that narrow rings, especially metal ones, when stacked, will occasionally show a slight glue line from time to time...

    Black vs Clear epoxy

I'm just wrapping up a butt that is primarily dark. Lots of black ebony, cocobolo, and copper. I'm considering using a black pigment in my epoxy. Good idea or bad??
