    Slow Cloth

Here's something you might try to test the speed There's no science here, but if you make this test on enough tables, you'll develope a quicker sence for speed. I assume you have a 9 footer. With the CB on the headstring, hit hard (break weight) straight up table to the foot rail. A "normal"...

    Fast Larry Read This

Just try and turn the other cheek Larry. You remind me of a hockey icon we have in Canada. EVERYONE here knows who Don Cherry is. Lots love him and lots hate him because he pulls no punches. He shoots from the hip and always tells it like it is. He's in heavy poop right now because he said on...

What I hate about televised WPBA

I agree as well. Why patronize these women? It must be extra embarassing for someone like Allison or Karen when they get a near "standing O" for even horrible shots. They need to strighten out both the fans and espn.

A new trick shot show is coming soon on TV

Great to hear that pool is on the move. This is "Artisic pool's" chance to grab a meaningful piece of the Billiard pie. Good timing too, as it sort of coincides with Mike Massey's release of his new trick shot book. An excellent book, I might add. I bought it the instant I heard it was...

The Fastest Way To Make Popular To The Masses

What would make pool popular to the masses? It is popular to the masses! Ask 100 N. Americans under 50 if they've played. I'll bet 80% of 'em say yes, and they loved it. What game did they play? Good old stripes and solids. We need to promote 8ball at the pro tourny level if we want to gain the...

    Please help with survey

If I have equal choice to follow or draw for shape (ball in hand is only one example), I will follow. To me its easier to control.

What is your TV game you want to see

Remember the TV show called "Pot Black"? From the UK, it was about snooker, but had interviews, etc. Very well done IMO. I couldn't wait to see it every week. Steve Davis, Jimmy White and the rest of the snooker guys were not only entertaining but halarious when they wanted to be. Something like...

What is your TV game you want to see

FAST WROTE - "the peoples game" Thanks, well put. That's what I'll refer to 8ball now. Amazing how many will poo-poo the very game that first introduced them to billiards. I have a pro friend that told me one of the reasons for 9ball is because a pro CAN play at a higher level than the...

What is your TV game you want to see

For TV, my vote would go to 8-ball. The reason is mostly marketing. In north America, way, way, way more people play 8-ball than anything else. Walk in almost any bar and check out what is being played. 8ball. Bars are where the "masses" play. The people that love pool, but maybe are a bit...

THE 3 MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF A CUE/BUY A Mali

Hey Silencer, what's wrong with laminated tips? Are you suggesting that a laminated tip is more prone to miscue? I switched away from 1 pce tips some time ago, and currently use Moori's. Please comment. Thanks

Road Trips-What was your hustle ?

No FL, I wasn't talking to you. I was referring to the "cue" Foxtrott was saying he could cobble together with spray paint and cigarette ashes. I'd like to see a picture of one of these "beasts". Cheers.

    Ask Fast Larry Any Question

Great discussion, thanks. I've wondered about Moori's for a while. My last one de-laminated in the middle and they don't seem to hold together well when they're shaped. On top of it all they're like $35 Canadian. I'll try a Talisman pronto :) . Btw, Do you know what kind of tip Mike Massey uses?

Wow, I'm not sure I even understand your story, let alone believe it. Your story might fly on a bowling forum, but I don't think so here. :D

    Need advice on Predator cues

Check their site to confirm, but I think the Pred. Z shaft has an 11.5mm tip. If you want a snooker cue fine, but for a pool cue you may want to stick with their 314 shaft. It comes to you at 12.75mm.

cracked shaft ?? for builders or maintainers

Cuttyshark, really the only way to remove a tenon that isn't loose enough just to pull off is to cut it off on a lathe. IMO, a cracked tenon is quite uncommon and probably not the problem. If it was, it would be getting worse very quickly. The first place I'd look is the bond at the tip. Go with...

    Next "Survivor" series

Our socialized medicine sucks?? Tell that to all the poor folk in the US that either can't afford the premiums or play "medicare roulette", hopin' they don't get sick... Countries that are socially responsible to all their people shouldn't privatize essential services. Or is health care not...

    Purchasing a new J/B cue

I bought a sledgehammer about 2 months ago. I love the 1 piece ferule/tip because you can pound the daylights out of the cue ball and not have to worry about a tip failure. (I believe I heard that the tip on the bungee is about $40 cdn, so you don't want to go through too many of them. ) In my...
