Greg, as for using phenolic joints - you could use it capped or you could sleeve the inside walls with SS or brass, that would stiffen it up a bit. Now let me know what Mr. Tucker told you... LOL :D

I would prefer black phenolic rings on CD with silver or something else... IMO the natural linen doesn't show much contrast with the points and the BE handle... Nice clean work! Hadj

That seems to be black dust caused by sanding, if that's ebony he got there. Prolly got thru the light colored veneer...

I agree Mike. I've seen his site and we're blessed that guys out there like Blud, Tom etc. could still find time to make & offer tooling for fellow cuemakers instead of keeping the goodies to themselves :D

Just read the posts here... You're right about the joint gettting larger if only the face would be re-grinded. I believe the whole thing should be grind to size again. I'm not a master machinist but I very well know that if it does have a taper on it, facing will result in a slightly bigger...

What about using Nelsonite in a vacuum tube? Would it reach down to the core? Has anyone tried this? Hadj

Buddy you mean the one we use on shafts were basically made for shaft treatment? What could be the other uses of it and the other different uses of the other Nelsonites?

There used to be a product called PHENOSEAL which does something to the wood like Nelsonite does but it was discontinued due to the high cost of manufacturing. Doesn't smell either

CC, sanding takes away less of the material and smoothens out any rough areas caused by turning.Ideally I cut til I'm 5-10thou of an inch from my target size then smooth sand it from there. I could turn cut slow and it'll be smooth with less sanding required and be less than 0.005" from my...

Good for you bud... Haven'tfound the need yet for carbide, my hard steel's still holding up pretty well. I guess when you do a ton of repairs it's necessary... that's why I keep myself in seclusion in my cue laboratory :D :D :D Still tryin' to figure out how to make shaft turning a little...

If you do a search on nelsonite, it'll show that it's used a lot on pool decks, fences etc. Is this the same Nelsonite used in cues? I got Nelsonite from Cuecomponents... haven't dipped yet, wondering how long would it take to dry out or any special drying methods involved? My shaftwood runs...
