    Linen Wrap Question?

About Linen wraps - which would be the best way to fasten up the beginning and end part of the wrap? I've unwrapped cues that have the start up thread just tucked under the weave, glued and pressed... and on the other hand I've seen wraps that are tucked in a small drilled hole and doweled up...

    Glue For Leather

Greg, I hope you don't mind me cutting in... I don't have the jig that most use. I clamp the handle area in a vise with a straight edge long enough to cover both ends. Making sure the overlap is tight and bonds well. Cutting it, I have the cue between centers on the lathe. I clamp a surgical...

    turning down a warped butt!

Michael, no it did not. Just decals:eek: Searched for it awhile back, found it and sawed it off at the ajoint - man it was a one piece maple butt... down to the buttsleeve. A wrap goove was just cut in the handle area. It hit fine though. Tells a whole lot of story for one piece butts and the...

    See any difference?

It would have been much better of you just dumped the whole thing in a washing machine and get back to it a year later :D Nice work man, that would attest to how patient you are dude. Btw, the gears seem to be a 0.0010" smaller now. Have you checked? That would be a lot of slack and power...

    turning down a warped butt!

IMO, turning it down further would just be too much work, depends on what part and how bad the warp is. It would alter the weight and balance of the cue. In some cheap cues that I practiced on where the butt was warped, I retapered, then seal with thick coats of epoxy finish close to the butts...

    Champion Cues Australia?

I chanced upon www.championcues.com and saw their shop pics exactly as what you can find in Ted Harris' website. Are these one and the same? Does Ted know about this or was it done with his consent. Just wondering  Hadj

Brass shims... exactly. Like those type they sell in auto-hardwares. Maybe thicker than a standard shim would be great and it cuts easily. Call it brass veneer if you may. Could prolly be done in points too between veneers. But back to the ringwork, that would really look classy with brass rings...

    My Two Cues

Here's a pic I took a couple of weeks back... the two cocobolos will be plain jane cues and the pink ivory would probably have a few inlays in them. These would be done in a few months and would be up for sale :D Hadj

Greg, I'm not pretty sure if there's something quiter than a router out there that would do the job it does. Reason why some have done table saw mach for tapering. It's more quieter:D I have a black and decker that's similar to a dremel with 30,000 rpm. I use it for doing inlays and shaping...

ROTOZIP - what about those rotary tools that bosch or makita have that has 1/4 shank in it, would it do the job for threading too? I've been wondering about those if it could do the job. The power specs, i think it could. The foredom is way over my budget. Oh, and I've seen those flex shafts...

Greg, Could you post a pic of that machine you have? Your set up puzzles me having the router in a horizontal position. Mine as you've seen on my lathe is mounted vertically and is a plunge router giving me z axis sorta kinda thing when I taper from the top. It's pretty accurate for strait...

bIG jON, Nice pete there, which reminds me I got some petes lying in the shop. Broken down housecues from my poolhall that I haven't touched in a while... a loong while. I think I could still salvage them out from being firewood. :D Nice mat... cooool  Here's a pic from one side of my...

Big Jon, Had something similar made too... flexed as soon as it hit the stock :D That gun drill of yours would be the best way to drill holes. I don't have one yet but I just use a long jabber drill and it cuts smooth. The problem I have is boring that dam long stock to proper size since mine...

    60" CUES

I have a 60" cue, my current playing cue and the joint size I have is .850, same as the 58" that I have. Still balanced the same way but the taper varies slightly and hardly noticeable. With your joint size, having a 60" cue would appear to be thinner than a 58". Having a slightly bigger joint...
