In the future, why not bore the original shaft to the required size before parting the rings? Easier than making a cup.. just my 2 cents on how i do it..

Carbon cores with wood thru the entire cue isnt that new either. Has been done over 10 years ago. Some like the hit & feedback of the cue, i personally do not. The upside is you dont have to deal with warping, and shorter turn around time when tapering.

Some updates: So the issue seems to be that i was not on a high enough RPM when switching towards the finer polishing compounds.. *d'oh* My lathe is on the verge of death & didnt want to push it, but i guess i have no choice now, but to max it. Results could be better, will continue working...
