I have used wood many times. I really like the look, maybe with a brass ring or two. Seems to be just as durable and I love the "hit".

If a piece of wood, say for instance birdseye, is kiln dried, does it still require turning a pass and then waiting days or even weeks to turn again, then turn and wait and so on or is it more likely to be stable because of the fact it's kiln dried? Could some of you more experienced CM's touch...

First off let me say that I am totally neutral here. Just been reading through the post. I have had many offers to "partner" up with people in my business over the years. At times when money was tight I even gave it the slightest consideration but always opted against it anyway. Reason being...

ANY ball will chip. It's almost always pocket nails not driven it deep enough. At least in my experiences with this problem. You'll need to go around periodically and recheck your nails as they will sometimes work their way back out a little. Good luck!
