    Playing Pros for Money?

I played Parica 10-6 on his break and 10-8 on mine. After about 4 hours I was 3 games stuck and quit.

    Problems with users

In my opinion you should not have banned Fast Larry. We are all adults here, and anyone who cannot put up with a few harsh cracks does not belong on the internet. I've been around poolrooms all my life, and I've heard much worse said to a person's face. Jokes and wisecracks are like a native...

    Playing Pros for Money?

Efren is very nice and approachable, I don't know what he'd want to play for. Santos Sambajon is also very nice, and he loves any kind of action, so you shouldn't have a problem getting a game with him. Bustamante only likes to play high-stakes pool, so you might have trouble getting cheap...

What are the ingredients in the making of a PRO?

What makes a pro: Skill Heart Consistency Knowledge Mannerism Most importantly: How well they can do when they are struggling.

    Mosconi, crybaby??

Willie was a quiet well-mannered guy. He's only human, so anyone can get a little upset at anything.

    Predator 314 shafts

I would strongly go against switching to a 314 if you have been playing for a long time with the same cue that has a good shaft. The reason why is because when you are applying english to the ball with a 314, you aim differently because of the minimal deflection. There is also a difference in...

    The Right Way to Practice

Constantly playing rotation helped me play all other games better, especially 9-ball. By "my game" I mean my playing ability. Eventually I started to run out on every occasion means that when I first started playing the game, I couldn't run out. That was many years ago, and now I can run...

And if you did a good job by yourself, that's good AznJcc :) I am just posting my two cents

    new guy here....shaft question

I don't really know of any inexperienced cuemakers. When I am in California, Joe Porper does all the work for me, and he's one of the best out there. Telling someone who is relatively new to cue customizing how to do something themselves on a message board is not a very good idea. If he makes a...

The Zone and how to get there

Getting into the zone is done by feel. You can't just meditate and then get on a pool table for the first time in one or two days and be in dead stroke. You warm up first, and if your feeling good, once you get the heat in a serious match, you may get into dead punch. There are many things that...

    The Right Way to Practice

^ Because nobody can break and run out 15 balls in order every single time. Rotation is Efren's main game in the Phillipines, and I've heard that he takes 3-1 or 2-1.

    The Right Way to Practice

Practice gets boring by yourself if you are having a bad day. When you are in stroke and feeling good, the right kind of practice doesn't get too dull and really pays off. Another thing I consider bad practice is shooting around with your friends for nothing. This is not practice, since nobody...

    The Right Way to Practice

^ That's right :) Once you get to the point where you can run a rack of rotation somewhat frequently, have a friend bet on your ghost. What I do is I play for $5 per game, and get 4-1 odds. If I miss, I pay my friend $5, and if I win, I get $20. My friend racks the balls for me, I break, take...

    new guy here....shaft question

^ The reason why I said he should take it to a professional with a lathe is because it can be sanded perfectly straight with a lathe for probably $10-20. Using sandpaper and your hand, you wont be able to do it perfectly straight, and if you make a mistake, you can mess up the shaft.

    new guy here....shaft question

You are better off taking your cue to a cuemaker who can sand it off with a lathe.

    The Right Way to Practice

I have known many players who practice on a regular basis for many years, but do not seem to improve. Most of them are generally hard-headed and don't listen to much advice. There is a good way to practice, and a bad way. When you first get on a table by yourself, what do you do? Do you throw...

    break cue getting good draw?

Good draw is in your stroke. The cue, as long as it's straight and has a well maintained tip will make a minimal difference. Some cues do take a while to get used to, however.

An Interesting Experience at a Bar Last Night...

I rarely drink these days. When I was in college, I used to drink beer alot. Now on rare occasions I will go to a bar with some buddies and have a couple beers to talk and relax. Yesterday we visited a bar I have never been to before. It's a small noisy place with an 8' bar table in the...

    The zone and playing speed

Your speed is an average of your good days and bad days combined. When you are in the zone, or dead-stroke, you are playing at your full potential of the moment, which is above your average speed.

    Jacobi Cue

Jacoby cues are great. A few years ago, a friend of mine had one, and told me he was selling it for $1200. I tested it, and it hit better than most cues I have ever used. At the time I was strapped for cash, and he ended up selling it to someone else for $1600. Man I wish I could have bought it!
