Do you use a strict diamond system?

Mostly I use "feel" for banks, kicks I guess because I'm too dumb or too lazy to spend the time and energy to learn the diamond system. Had a guy who was supposed to be a fair banker help me with this problem. His name was Vernon Elliott. He asked what method I was using to determine banking...

Vegas is opening another pool room

On a motorcycle trip out west one year I stayed the night in Billings Mt. Went to a recommended room there and all the pool tables were covered with pink cloth. Had never seen that before ..........nor since.

The most naturally talented pool players that you have ever known?

Certainly Vernon Elliott is at or near the top of this list. Another is Jack Cooney. Most people have never heard of these two but it is for sure 99% of all the players mentioned certanily knew or know them.

    Staying Down on Power Shots?

Power shots Scott gave me the same advice and I can tell you it isn't funny. The fishing lure attached to the treble hooks are still there!

Any chance for Danny Smith vs Efren 1 Hole

An Efren vs Danny match isn't likely to happen until Derby time, if then. Be a good contest I think but who else would be a good opponent for Danny in the meantime. How about John Hagar? John hasn't played in a while but most who know him don't discount his game any and he is big money...

Scott, do you recommend looking at the cueball or object ball last?

    Danny Smith One Pocket

What, drug use, too much alcohol, bad decisions? The vast majority of our best pool players were not children who started life with a level playing field. Otherwise we would be talking about which college they graduated from before taking up pool. Likewise many are smart (not all) and with...

    Darren Appleton vs. Danny Smith

I can't imagine Danny not wanting to play Orcullo or anyone else for that matter. I have never heard of him turning down a challenge if it was possible for him to play. Orcullo like Darren, is a proven champion and one of my favorite players to watch. That said I would be rooting for Danny...

    Darren Appleton vs. Danny Smith

No, Darren , a great player got beat. But he wasn't beat by a rookie, only someone whose name isn't known on the world stage..............yet. Danny don't have to lose to anyone at one pocket. Let's see how many offers he gets by known champions willing to give him any measureable weight for...

    ffffff

Stumbled across that guy named "Black" when I was lost in Humble, Tx. He showed me a bunch of cues he made for his wife. Didn't want anyone seeing me leave with a ladies cue so I waited and had them shipped UPS. Might ought to google him and check out some of his samples.

    Player Info?

A friend who does not have a computer has been pestering me to find out what is known about a player of yesteryear named "Chuck Morgan". What I have heard is he stayed below the radar, maybe didn't play tournaments. Played professional (alleged) speed. Do any of you know where he was from...

    What's it worth.....

McDermott sold these cases during the 1980's. I bought many of them while I was selling McDermott cues at my Harley dealership. Still have three of them used for cue storage. Of course, McDermott didn't make cases but outsourced them.

WTH is wrong with the last 2 balls that they can't go in???

Last two balls. Everyone faces this problem in varying degrees. Advanced face it less often, naturally, than others. Two things can help turn it around, IMO, is: Be sure to "STAY DOWN" on the shot and follow through, and don't be thinking I "HOPE" I make this ball! In fact don't be thinking at...

whats the best tip thats hard but not likely to miscue.

Tip question? Bob, I agree with what you said and say mostly because you said it! But, still, I would be interested to hear what tip(s) you have tried and what you impressions were. Not that one tip is better than because, as with cue sticks, there are many great ones but why we buy one and...

    Great Interview with Keith McCready!

Jam, you need to encourage Keith and Mickey Boy to quit talking to each other beside that stream and start "walking" along side of it, lol. Gotta get in shape to hang with the young guys out there on the pool trail.

What cues are the pros using these days?

The value of threads like this should be obvious to anyone. Especially a pool player who is interested in making a living doing it as a profession. To any entrepreneur wishing to make a living manufacturing billiard products it's simply business 101. Pros can play well with any well made cue...

    Smokin Aces played on Valleys....

I would be surprised that a pro or others have run more consecutive racks on a Valley than a Diamond. The Diamond is prettier and a higher quallity table IMO but not easier. The huge side pockets on the Diamond bar box makes up for the generous corner pockets on the Valley. Given a choice I...
